The journey continues north towards the majestic Tunupa Volcano. Along the way, visit the Coquesa community, home to fascinating Aymara mummies preserved in volcanic caves. The trip proceeds to the Tunupa viewpoint, ascending by vehicle to a high altitude near the crater.

From this vantage point, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Uyuni Salt Flats, showcasing the true scale and beauty of this natural wonder.

This is the highest point of the route, at nearly 5,000 meters above sea level, where the air is crisp and the landscape feels otherworldly.

Witness steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pools in shades of red, gray, and ochre—an extraordinary geothermal field where the earth seems alive beneath your feet.

The journey then continues through the striking desert and Salar de Chalviri, a landscape of remarkable contrasts where white mineral deposits, ocher desert tones, and deep blue waters blend into a truly unique scene.

The lagoon’s unique coloration comes from algae and plankton activated by sunlight and wind, which also influence the delicate pink tones of the flamingos’ plumage.
