The best chocolate farm tour ever!! - I brought a group of 15 people to Costa Rica for a yoga retreat and our resort recommended the Uvita Chocolate Farm Tour. It was amazing! I have been on a chocolate farm tour before in Hawaii and this one was by far better. Ronald Alpizar has been part of a Cacao farm his whole life and knows what it takes to grow, maintain and nurture a farm, a business, and a purpose. From a short hike through the farm (wear close toed, sturdy shoes), the hands on experience of toasting the cacao, grinding it ourselves, drinking it and even using it as a facial mask, this experience is top notch. We started off in an outdoor meeting space like a large hut with a roof, saw the drying racks and we felt like we were a true part of the farm. We got to have a private experience with just our group so it made it even more special.

Wonderful experience - Ronald provided an absolutely amazing experience at his chocolate farm. He is knowledgeable, warm & funny…& the chocolate we made was delicious! Bought lots to take home.
The monkey visit was an added bonus! Traveler’s tip…book it yourself through WhatsApp & it’s cheaper. If you have a 4x4 rental it’s very easy to drive to from Uvita or Dominical, just off the main highway.

Favorite experience. - We had such a wondurful experience on this small family run chocolate tour. The knowledge and passion shared made it incredibly interesting, and we learned so much. The facial chocolate experience was suh a unique and relaxing touch! He was also so patient with the little ones, which we really appreciated. And the smoothies ...honestly some of the best we have ever had. Highly recommend this tour!F

A Fantastic Hands-On Chocolate Experience for the Whole Family - This was one of the highlights of our trip to Uvita. The experience was both educational and engaging from start to finish. Ronald did an amazing job guiding us through the entire chocolate-making process—from the cacao bean all the way to tasting chocolate in its purest form.
The kids absolutely loved it because it was very hands-on and interactive, and they were involved throughout the entire experience. It was fun, informative, and something our whole family could enjoy together.
Ronald also took photos of us during the tour, which was such a thoughtful touch. It allowed us to fully enjoy the experience without worrying about taking pictures ourselves, and now we have wonderful memories captured from the day.
Ronald was an excellent guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does.
As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Uvita. A must-do if you’re looking for something authentic, fun, and memorable.

Don't Miss This Tour!! - We had an amazing time on the chocolate tour, and much of that is thanks to Ronald, the owner of the farm and our incredible tour guide. His knowledge of the entire chocolate-making process was truly impressive, from grafting the saplings and picking the fruit to the more intricate steps like fermenting the beans, drying them, toasting them, and finally grinding them into a paste.
Ronald made every part of the process engaging and educational. He walked us through each step with enthusiasm, and we loved getting hands-on by participating in grinding the beans ourselves. The highlight was definitely tasting the freshly made chocolate in a delicious hot drink—it was absolutely delicious!
What really set this tour apart, though, was Ronald's warmth and kindness. He was not only informative but also incredibly patient and thoughtful with our young children, making the experience enjoyable for everyone.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn about coffee and chocolate. Ronald's passion and expertise made it truly unforgettable!

Cocoa has never been so great! - Ronald was simply terrific. He was educating, wonderfully interactive, clearly loves his life, funny and inclusive of the whole group. Learning and lovely. All 6 of us loved this immersive tour! Highly recommend!

Chocolate Tour - Ronald is an engaging host with an easy, conversational style. You’ll learn a lot about chocolate—see the various stages of growth in a pleasant walk in the jungle and even get to husk shells and mash it into a paste—which makes an excellent facial cream. Ron’s sense of humor adds as well.
