  • Vecht - Scenic meandering river. Wealthy traders and officials from Amsterdam constructed numerous grand estates along the Vecht’s shores during the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • Breukelen - A remarkable castle dating back to around 1275 AD, which is now home to an International Business University.
  • Castle-Museum Sypesteyn - Attractive garden.
  • Lage-Vuursche - Lage Vuursche boasts a conservation area status for its village scene, featuring homes from the 18th and 19th centuries and a multitude of national monuments. Its reformed church was built in 1650.
  • Paleis Soestdijk - The initial structure from the 17th century at Soestdijk is a former royal palace. Starting in 1937, it served as the home for the then crown princess and later Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, along with her German spouse Prince Bernhard van Lippe-Biesterfeld.
  • Loosdrechtse Plassen - Situated between Amsterdam and Utrecht, the Loosdrechtse Plassen are a vast area dedicated to water sports and natural habitats.
  • Bethunepolder - The Bethune polder is a region where leisure and the preservation of nature are prioritized. It is a habitat for numerous unique species of flora and fauna.
  • Goois Natuurreservaat - A forest adjacent to Lage Vuusche, renowned for its enchanting ‘forest tunnel roads’.
  • Nieuwe-Wetering - Barely qualifies as a village. Predominantly pastoral with charming farmhouses.
  • Molen Geesina - The Geesina is a grain mill, likely established in 1843. It has been refurbished and continues to produce flour.
  • Fort Ruigenhoek - Part of the New Dutch Water Line Defence System, this fortification was constructed between 1869-1870. In 1940, it was rendered obsolete as the Germans managed to fly over it. Not located in Almere, but close to Utrecht.
  • Slot Zuylen - A castle from the 13th century. This was the residence of a Dutch writer and composer of the 18th century who was French-speaking. She was exceptionally well-educated and notably independent. She is remembered for her extensive literary works, her correspondence, and her memorable quotes such as ‘I have no talent for subordination’ and ‘I want to be a citizen of “everyone’s country”.’

This tour is abundant in variation, taking you through rural and historical sights. The tour’s distinctiveness is heightened by the use of a sidecar, which makes it more enjoyable than a standard tour.
Discover the richly varied heart of the provinces of Holland and Utrecht, featuring rivers, lakes, forests, polders, ancient castles, Renaissance mansions, windmills, the royal palace and pancakes, all while on a sidecar ride.

I’m Marco Hupkes, your tour guide. My experiences range from being a traveller, guide, outdoor instructor, comedian, to a history teacher. Let me have the pleasure of presenting you my homeland and I’m confident we’ll share some memorable moments. Looking forward to meeting you and make your day splendid.

Just so you know: if you have any unique tour concepts, feel free to share them. I’m always open to customizing the experience.

Best wishes, Marco.

Unique & fun day out. Highly recommend - My teenage son’s friend was visiting The Netherlands from California. I wanted to give them a tour that they might actually be excited about. Marco’s sidecar tour definitely hit the mark. On my end, the pre tour communication was great. His adaptability and easy going nature was very reassuring. The boys had a very memorable, enjoyable, safe and unique experience. The motorbike was very cool too. My daughter wants to do it now!!

Sidecar trip with Marco - Recently I went for a ride with Marco. He is an experienced driver who is also very well versed communicatively. He likes to help others to enjoying the sidecar ride, and really make you feel comfortable during such! In the end it's of course about having a lovely, comfortable experience. And Marco certainly is the right choice for this!

Worthwhile experience to drive through the beautiful countryside on a head turning Ural Sidecar replica model from WWII - This was a fantastically unique experience! To drive through the city and the countryside on a unique WWII replica Ural with a sidecar. Everything you do on the motorcycle with the sidecar is fun. We are used to motorcycles and have our own at home, but with this vehicle it is totally different. With the sidecar, just going around a corner is fun :-) Marco explained the sights and the stories behind them and he was a very good host. He looked after us very well while taking us through the tour. We can really recommend this tour. The sidecar is the experience, the beautiful sights are bonuses.

Fantastic side car tour (Veluwe, surrounding Nijkerk). - With Holland Side cars tours, I have had a fantastic day of off-road experience. Custom tour Veluwe, surrounding Nijkerk. It was lots of fun and joy to experience the nature on a completely different and surprisingly comfortable way. The guide Mr Hupkes (Marco) has the great ability to adjust his riding to your comfort. (Even on the bumpy off-road) His knowledge about the surroundings and history brings just that extra, what you don’t expect. I highly recommend to book a trip with Holland Side car tours

I’m so glad we booked this unique tour! - Marco picked us up at our door, provided us with helmets, and off we went to tour the countryside of Utrecht. We saw palaces and the golden age mansions along the River Vecht. We saw windmills and farms and beautiful rivers. We rode thru forests that made tunnels of trees that had the most wonderful smell. I like that the stops were just enough to see and appreciate and then move on to the next. Marco was kind and knowledgeable. We felt safe and stable on the motorcycle and in the sidecar. I would recommend this to a friend.

Sidecar tour with my daughter - Sunday march 23th 2020 my 9 year old daughter en me did a 3 hours tour with Holland Sidecar Tours. My daughter was already familiar with a ride on a trike, quad and motorbike but she had never heard of a sidecar. When we found out that Marco Hupkes offers 2wd sidecar trips she really wanted to experience this. We were lucky to choose a sunny Sunday and took the 3 hour tour (the very last one before the severe Covid rules ;-) My daughter was fitted with a safety helmet and strapped in a seat belt in the sidecar. I took place on the seat behind Marco after putting on gloves and a safety helmet. Even though temperature was barely above 10 degrees we were never cold. We were driven along beautiful rivers with castles and nice nature. There was even a 1 kilometre stretch of offroad, which was amazingly comfortable. The sidecar is really built for offroad, it takes bumps easy. Not as fast as other bikes but accelerating quick enough to experience the speed and it can do all terrain. We had nice photo shoot moments and a stop to drink or eat what- and whenever you wanted. Marco explains very well how the bike works and you really do not need to do anything but holding on to sit behind him. You can talk loud during the ride and understand each other but better to ask questions about the surroundings, history and vehicle during stops. My daughter was just enjoying the ride in the sidecar and did not even feel the need to lean or hold on. The tour was over much too soon.
