Puerto Almanza, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Where America begins. - The place is incredible, a special energy at the beginning of the continent! The town is very small, we had a very good lunch in one of the restaurants and then we took the boat excursion. We went by car and hired her there. An extraordinary experience!!!! We even saw whales!!!

I'd come back. - The comments where they claim the road, the dust, the deficiencies are laughing. It is a remote, rustic place, without highways or shopping clear. Lots of nature, very quiet. Before going I spoke to several restaurants and I had better attention than the one that is further away, so I chose it. Impeccable, Good Service, Clean. There would have to be more alternatives to get there and not rely on tours, expensive and with pre-established times and places.

Picturesque and delicious - We went by car. A very picturesque setting. A beautiful road. But all the applause is taken away by the possibility of eating fresh centolla at the fishermen's house. There were still not many options for the time of year, but where we went was excellent. And much cheaper than eating in the city.

VERY PICTURESQUE - A very picturesque place, in the very small port you can see the fishermen's boats, a little town at the end of the world

A rich meal! - To go to lunch you have to book. Restaurants are small with 5/6 tables. Dishes depend on the catch of the day. Go with the fuel tank full. There's no load there. There are no places to buy things either except a warehouse. 45 km approx are of ripio. The Camino is good. They generally work with cash. No cell phone signal.

Puerto Almanza - route of the centolla - The port is a picturesque place, on the day we went (Tuesday) we only found 3 restaurants open, which disappointed us, as it sells a lot as "Centolla route" and there were few options. We decided to have lunch at "Onas", the place itself is not so cute, but the service is acceptable and the price is cheaper than the others open that day. While the dishes depend on the catch of the day, and sell you fresh dishes, we paid $7000 a plate of centolla to the butter with garnish, which was delicious and filling; $800 a patty of centolla and about $1000 and spike the salmon pickle, all delicious. We were told that there is more variety of restaurant following the route but we were short of time.

If you have extra time... - It's far from ushuaia, it doesn't have much to do, it's only 1 street, very small. If you have leftover days it is picturesque to go to know it, rather near noon and I recommend lunch at A'Kum Restó (at the end) where they serve you excellent. You can also go from there by land to the Harberton Estate (from 2pm), as a post lunch plan. It's not dazzling.

Too far, for me it's not worth it - To this area you go to visit the port (which does not exist or I did not see it) or the Harberton Stay. We had rented a car and went to the port because we were told there were enough restaurants to eat centolla and fresh seafood. After much driving (as always including ripio) you get to the place where once again you see water and coast (ok with this, I don't complain). We arrived shortly before 2.30pm and almost no restaurants had food. Considering you're not having dinner, it would be nice if you extended your lunch schedule a little. We got to eat at "El gran Chaparral" (no joke the name) and the truth rarely in my life I ate in a place like this: everything pretty ruined, little space, bathrooms impossible to use. Food another theme: they only had rabas and some empanadas of different tastes that for me, they were all the same. Do not waste time with this place or its restaurants.
