FIRST HIKE “COAST TRAIL” LOW DIFFICULTY - 40 MINUTES LONG:
The first hike begins at Ensenada Bay, following part of the Shore trail while taking in the breathtaking views of the Beagle Channel and its wildlife. Visitors can see the flag trees, bent by the strong Pacific Ocean winds. From this vantage point, the Murray Channel is visible, famously crossed by Charles Darwin and Captain Fitz Roy in 1830 when they discovered the Beagle Channel and interacted with the indigenous people. Additionally, there are archaeological sites dating back 8000 years, where the natives constructed their shelters.
SECOND HIKE “CAÑADON DEL TORO”-LOW DIFFICULTY - 30 MINUTES LONG:
After traversing the tranquil Andean forest with its stunning mountain landscape, hikers will reach a viewpoint to admire one of the cascades of Rio Pipo, where glacial meltwater flows into the Beagle Channel.
THIRD HIKE “ROCA LAKE AND LAPATAIA RIVER”-LOW DIFFICULTY - 20 MINUTES LONG:
The journey continues to Roca Lake, where guests can enjoy a serene and picturesque walk around parts of the lake and Lapataia River, capturing magnificent photos. Following a brief stroll, there is a stop at a coffee shop where hot chocolate and snacks are available for purchase while enjoying the panoramic views of the mountains, forest, and rivers. It is recommended to bring at least $20 USD for a snack at this stop.
After the break, the tour crosses the Lapataia River, visiting the Cormoranes Archipelago, the Green Lagoon, and the Ovando River.
Finally, the tour proceeds to Lapataia Bay, the terminus of the Panamerican Highway, where the famous Alaskan mileage-marker sign can be seen before returning to the ship.
FORTH HIKE “LAPATAIA VIEW POINT” LOW DIFFICULTY - 40 MINUTES LONG:
The hike extends beyond the actual End of The World (end of the Panamerican Highway), encircling Lapataia Bay with spectacular views of the Darwin Range, featuring the island’s highest mountains with snow-capped peaks year-round.
Participants will enjoy a delightful hike through the forest, observing impressive beaver dams. “With some luck, a beaver or two might be spotted.”
The trail concludes with an opportunity to breathe the freshest and purest air in the world while savoring scenic views of the mountains, forests, snow, and sea.
Finally, guests will return to their ship in a comfortable van with their exceptional guide.
