Yes, Do this - After we found the exit to 65 Clark Lane, a tiny road leading up to a white castle on top of the hill, we were immediately transported to a festively decorated and dimly lit hall where our cozy table had been beautifully set up with a variety of foods and flights of wine for our pairing learning lunch. We were warmly welcomed and given details on the origin of every item. The wines had been carefully selected by the winery’s club members and had just been delivered the night before. They were all unique and delicious. We started with a white Grenache (yes, Grenache, no mistake, they had skinned the grapes before making the wine) which paired well with turkey and other meats. The reds that followed didn’t disappoint either, and included petit verdo, exclusively grown by Virginian winemakers due to its ability to grow in the soil here. My favorite red was a Nero D’Avola grown on a volcanic plot near Lazio, Italy. Since it had snowed the day before, we were treated with a white Christmas scenery and incredibly clean, sweet and crisp air; rolling hills and mountains as far as our eyes could see. The house where wine retreats take place was open to see and it was absolutely spectacular, lavishly decorated with gorgeous solid and some rare antique furniture. Every suite had gorgeous view and so did the state of the art kitchen and dining room. Rooms were named after various parts of the Appalachian Trails. We had a great experience and enjoyed the proximity to another gem, Patty O’s Cafe for a late afternoon coffee break. Definitely recommend this winery and the experience.

Great experience, esp if you enjoy reds. - Very nice venue with great wines and great selection of curated wines from other vineyards. Donna was a lovely host, with ample stories about each of the wines on the menu—and still more stories for dessert! “Red Table Wine” are the 3 most important words to look for to identify a great wine, and true to form, our tasting consisted of 4 of them, plus a rosé. I loved them all, though my white wine-loving spouse would have liked a nod to that end of the wine spectrum.
