- Pine Springs Visitor Center - This cozy visitor center features exhibits on the park’s geological and natural wonders. It also houses a small gift shop. Visitors are required to pay their park fee here.
- Pine Springs Trailhead - As one of the main trailheads in the park, Pine Springs serves as the starting point for several trails. The most popular are the trails to Guadalupe Peak and Devil’s Hall. Guadalupe Peak is the tallest mountain in Texas. The hike to its summit is 8.4 miles round trip, with a 3,000-foot elevation change, and is considered challenging. Devil’s Hall is approximately 4 miles round trip and ranges from moderate to difficult. It’s important to bring plenty of water and snacks for either trail.
- Pinery Butterfield Stage Station Ruins - The remnants of an overland mail route station, known as the Pinery, are located at the base of the Guadalupe Mountains. In the past, mail was transported across the country by carriage, stopping at stations like this for a new driver and fresh horses.
- Frijoles Canyon - Discover a historic homestead at the Frijole Ranch. The farmhouse has been transformed into a small museum showcasing artifacts from the area’s human history. Visitors can also walk beyond the ranch to access the Smith Spring Loop Trail, which leads a short distance into the mountain forest to a spring. The entire trail is 2.3 miles round trip and is considered moderate. Alternatively, visitors can stop at the Manzanita Spring, which is only 0.5 miles round trip.
- McKittrick Canyon - McKittrick Canyon offers an easier option for hiking into the mountains compared to the trails at the Pine Springs trailhead. There are several hiking options here, but the most recommended is the hike to Pratt Cabin. This hike is 4.8 miles round trip and is considered moderately difficult, primarily due to its length. This area is renowned for its vibrant autumn foliage. Adjacent to the trailhead is a small visitor center that is occasionally staffed.
