Great visit to Southern Pines, NC - My wife and I did recently do a trip to Southern Pines, but we did NOT do a tarot reading - instead went went golfing and eating. We found the Southern Pines town (and area) lovely, lots of fine restaurants, and we plan to return again. We played the renowned Pine Needles Golf Club and found it to be a real "gem". It was in great condition and each and every hole were different and totally enjoyable. We stayed at the Mid Pines Inn and found it to be a mediocre hotel at best. It's quite old, has no elevator to get you and your bags to the upper floors, and things are quite outdated. On the bright side, we learned that this hotel is closing in October for a complete renovation (including an elevator) so this should become a great resort property in a year or two. And, if you're a golfer, if the 6-7 great courses right around Southern Pines are not enough, the town of Pinehurst is only some 5 miles away - with it's many fine courses and heralded golf history. Have fun, Jerry B.
