- Blue Grotto (Il-Hnejja) - You will first drive to the Blue Grotto. The Blue Grotto is actually a number of sea caverns on the southern coast of Malta, west of the Wied iz-Zurrieq harbour and across the small uninhabited islet of Filfla. Everyday from sunrise until about 1300 hrs, a unique sight can be observed here. The cave’s location combined with the sunlight lead to the water mirroring shows numerous shades of blue. Several caverns mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora; other caverns show a deep dark shade of blue. If weather permits, you can do a 25 minute boat trip around the caves for an extra cost.

Please note, the market will not be available on September 22, 2024, due to the Village’s Feast at Marsaxlokk. However, the tour will still spend 90 minutes in Marsaxlokk, allowing you to witness the celebrations, enjoy some food, and take pictures of the beautiful boats.

Nice tour to do on a Sunday - While it was windy, the tour was great. There was a delay because of the buses had some issues and had to replace. Went to the Blue Grotto and saw the seven different caves. It was so awesome and blue (which is my favorite color); keep in mind, visiting this on a tour is not always a guarantee based on wind and water conditions. You can walk or take some transportation that costs a $1. I think it is a car.
The fishing village was very nice as well. You could literally spend a whole day there but two hours or so.
Highly recommend. I probably would not procrastinate.

Tours and trips - Marilyn was amazing arranging taxi's to here there and everywhere. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely be seeing her again. More taxis and maybe a trip to sickly next time. 10/10

BLUE CAVE - No doubt it is interesting, and we should visit even to be able to comment and compare. Those who know our Benagil Caves in Portimão and other small wonders on our Algarve coast... do not love the ones visited in Malta. However I say worth it for the reasons mentioned

Very time pressured trip. - The trip in the little boat to the Grotto was enjoyable, but felt very pressured as the queue to get on a boat was long and we were given a set time to get back to the bus. The same applied to the market. Although a beautiful fishing village by the time we managed to get a drink and a quick snack, (by which time we were desperate) it was time to head back to the bus.

Daily market by this quaint fishing harbor. Market stalls offer locally made crafts as well as touristy souvenirs - This was another stop on the hop on hop off bus. I went on a Wednesday and there were a few craft stalls selling beautiful handmade table linens and jewelry. But most of the stalls had tourist merchandise you can find anywhere: Malta hats, tees, small ceramics etc.
A walk around the bustling, picturesque harbor is worth the trip, followed by a drink at one of the small cafes while watching the world go by.
You can go on a boat trip round to Blue Grotto from Marsaxlokk. However, I hopped back on the bus and it was a couple of stops after.
I was hoping to go on a boat trip when I got there, but the grotto was only open to swimmers and the boats were not running. If I had known I would have taken a swimsuit as the water looked really inviting

Beautiful... but speed - Beautiful course, beautiful landscapes but rhythm in the chain, boats one behind the other 15 minutes top chrono. Cash payment only on the day.

Be prepared to walk in midday sun ! - Disappointed no air con on coach.
Coach parked far away from market. Walk in and back midday sun spoilt whole experience

Ok but cheaper, quickerand better to make your own way there. - Guide was ok. However, it took 2 hours to pick everyone up, then drove to the Blue Grotto, which was closed. So photo opp only.
Markets are really just some fresh fish, vegetables and loads of cheap knock offshore from China. The guide advises not to but the fish if heading back k on the bus for obvious reasons.
The location is nice and many restaurants.
So, frankly, get an Uber...cheaper and quicker.

Don't book - I made a reservation 3 weeks ago, but I was told that it was not possible today because it was full of reservations on the same day.
I asked for a pick up, but I waited two hours and was told.

Confirmed tour but not picked up and no refund - We booked this tour the day before departure and it was confirmed on line for the pickup time and date. After 15 minutes of waiting (arrived 5 minutes early) , we rang the company to confirm that they were coming to pick us up and they said it would be a few more minutes. After waiting another 10 minutes or so, a person from their company who was running the hop on / off buses rang their colleague and confirmed they would be coming. After a further 30-40 minutes of waiting he rang them again at which time he said they weren’t picking us up as we booked too late and we could do the hop on off bus instead which would come in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later the non-air conditioned, crowded bus came (do not do this either). The company did not contact us or reply to my emails and no refund has been sent. Terrible company, do not use, they should not confirm and take our money if they they cannot pick you up.
