Setting Sail to Marsa Mubarak

The sun was just beginning to rise as I found myself at Port Ghalib, ready to embark on an adventure that promised both serenity and excitement. The Marsa Waves team greeted us warmly, their enthusiasm infectious as we prepared to set sail. As a marine biologist, the prospect of encountering dugongs and turtles in their natural habitat was a dream come true.

Our journey began promptly at 8 AM, the gentle hum of the boat’s engine blending with the rhythmic lapping of the waves. The anticipation was palpable among the group, each of us eager to experience the wonders that lay beneath the surface of the Red Sea. The 25-minute sail to Marsa Mubarak was a perfect opportunity to soak in the stunning coastal views and reflect on the day’s upcoming adventures.

Following a delicious and varied lunch, we took a brief rest before setting out for our second snorkeling adventure. This time, our mission was to find the majestic turtles that call Marsa Mubarak home. With renewed energy, we set off, our guide leading the way with expertise and enthusiasm.

It wasn’t long before we encountered these magnificent creatures, their shells glistening under the sun’s rays. Much like the dugong, the turtles exuded a sense of calm and friendliness, allowing us to swim alongside them with ease. Observing their graceful movements and interactions with the environment was a testament to the beauty and complexity of marine life.

The second snorkeling session lasted another hour and a half, each moment filled with wonder and discovery. As we made our way back to the boat, I felt a profound connection to the ocean and its inhabitants, a reminder of why I chose this path as a marine biologist.
