Setting Sail on the Seafari

The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon as we boarded the Seafari boat, a vessel that promised an ocean adventure like no other. As a professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours on the water, but this trip was different. It was a chance to explore the Gulf of Papagayo in a way I hadn’t before, with the promise of surfing, fishing, snorkeling, and more. The crew, David and Jesus, greeted us with warm smiles and an infectious “Pura Vida” spirit that set the tone for the day.

We started our journey with a bit of fishing, casting our lines into the deep blue in hopes of catching mahi-mahi or perhaps a roosterfish. The thrill of the catch was palpable, and even though I’ve spent years chasing waves, there’s something uniquely satisfying about reeling in a fish. As we fished, we kept our eyes peeled for dolphins and whales, a reminder of the ocean’s vast and vibrant life.

A Dive into Crystal Waters

After our fishing adventure, we made our way to a secluded beach with waters so clear they seemed to sparkle under the sun. It was the perfect spot for snorkeling, and as I slipped beneath the surface, I was greeted by a world teeming with life. Schools of colorful fish darted around me, and the coral formations were a sight to behold. It’s moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

The crew had prepared a light lunch for us, a delicious spread that was clearly made with care. We enjoyed our meal on the beach, the sound of the waves providing the perfect soundtrack. With our bellies full, we took to the water once more, this time on stand-up paddleboards. Gliding across the surface, I felt a sense of peace and freedom that only the ocean can provide.
