Embrace the Rain: Surfing at Dewata Beach
Unawatuna, with its lush landscapes and vibrant culture, offers a unique charm even on a rainy weekend. As the rain patters down, the waves at Dewata Beach beckon the adventurous spirit. This sandy-bottomed beach is perfect for beginners looking to catch their first wave. The surfing lessons are available from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on both June 7th and 8th, providing an ideal morning adventure before the rain intensifies.
The instructors at Dewata Beach are seasoned pros, ensuring a safe and exhilarating experience. As one recent review noted on April 7, 2025:
Amazing surf lessons - We chose sun diving centre to book our beginner surfing lessons with after having an amazing experience diving with them. They took us to dewata beach which was 10mins away (as unawatuna does not have good waves for surfing). Transport there and back is included in the price. Once we started the lesson our surfing instructor was super friendly, funny and had great English, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We had some training on the sand first with the board and then spent around 1 hour in the ocean with assistance from instructor pushing us and explaining different techniques to help us improve. We had a really great time & can tell these guys have a lot of experience! Don’t hesitate to book with these guys if you want to learn surfing!
The rain adds a refreshing element to the experience, cooling you down as you ride the waves. With the wind gusts reaching up to 21.3 mph, the conditions are perfect for a thrilling surf session.
