Matthew did a fantastic job with the tour points and the timing for the fireworks. He nearly got the amount of time it takes to get to the viewing area down to the MINUTE. We had a wonderful time kayaking and I will definitely bring out of town friends next time. (although I will be sure to also bring gloves, my hands have all sorts of blisters haha)

What a great way to be a tourist in your own city! This fireworks tour was fantastic! There were a few stops along the way so it was nice to get a break from rowing but I feel that the brakes were a little too long that is probably my biggest complaint. But to their credit they were just trying to show us some really cool things - one was the famous water canon, Second was the Art on the Mart , A spectacular light show on the side of the merchandise Mart, And third was of course to spectacular fireworks! The water current was enough to help give you some momentum to move at a decent pace. The river is narrow and you have to watch out for boats and stay on one side together as a group, but for a beginner like me it was just as well that I didn’t have access to the entire river! We went on a warm summer Saturday night and the whole city was outside along the Riverwalk or out on their boat or in an open terrace restaurant, waving to us and enjoying the views, music playing everywhere so it was truly an energizing experience!
Just a couple tips one is as far as location you would be best to use spot hero and park close to Wacker and Columbus as you can. Urban kayaks will validate parking ($15) if you park in millennium Park but it’s a good hike down there so I would suggest using the spot hero app and get closer For the same price ($14) a good 5 hours. I would say give yourself plenty of time to park and walk down there to be able to find it and then get yourself prepared to go in the kayak put your stuff in a locker go to the bathroom and put on your life jacket. All of this takes time so I would suggest you get to the parking lot at LEAST a half hour before the takeoff time. You will get completely wet from the bottom down so I wouldn’t suggest taking anything with you but a water bottle and a waterproof camera if you want to. The lifejackets actually have a nice handy zipper that you can put your phone in. Overall a very awesome time and I would highly recommend and do it again! Fireworks were magical!

Great way to see Chicago! Much more fun being active during a water tour. The river was nasty though - I would be interested in knowing if there are any cleanup projects for the river.

The paddling part was great. I have been on other tours and know that there are a lot more interesting stories about the river, the city history and the architecture that could be shared. Perhaps you could also look into installing wireless speakers into the kayaks instead of blasting the narrative through a megaphone. The river has become so noisy and the megaphone is both necessary and contributes to the noise pollution. Still had a great time. Thank you.
