Terelj National Park
Chinggis Khaan Statue And Gorkhi Terelj - The Genghis Khan Statue Complex is a monumental tribute to Mongolia’s national hero, situated about 54 km (34 miles) east of Ulaanbaatar near the Tuul River at Tsonjin Boldog. The location holds historical significance; legend has it that Genghis Khan discovered a golden whip here, which was considered a sign of good fortune. The statue’s base is a 10-meter-tall visitor center supported by 36 columns, each representing a Khan from Genghis to Ligdan Khan.
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park - Visit Turtle Rock, formerly known as Mungut Khad (Money Rock). According to legend, the Oirad Khan Galdanboshigt hid his gold and silver treasure here after a battle with Manchu soldiers. It is said that he left his Manchurian consort behind to guard the treasure, and she transformed into a nearby mountain.
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park - Visit Gunjiin Temple: Legend tells of a Manchu princess sent to marry Dondovdorj, who remained loyal to him and refused to spy for the Manchu court. After her death in 1740, the grieving nobleman constructed the temple in her honor. Some accounts suggest she may have been poisoned by Manchu officials for her loyalty.
