Naadam is a traditional festival celebrated in Mongolia. Locally known as “eriin gurvan naadam,” which translates to “The three games of men,” the festival features Mongolian wrestling, horse racing, and archery. These events take place across the country during the midsummer holidays. While women have begun participating in archery and girls in horse racing, Mongolian wrestling remains male-only. In 2010, Naadam was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The festival’s main highlight is the opening ceremony, and tickets are limited.
Khuvsgul Lake is known as the dark blue pearl, and the Darkhad Valley boasts over 200 lakes surrounded by high mountains covered with forests and extensive marshlands. This area is home to the Tsaatan ethnic minority, known as the reindeer people.
