Tsagaan Suvarga - Tsagaan Suvarga, meaning “White Stupa,” is a remarkable natural geological formation in Dundgovi Province of Mongolia’s Gobi region. Although its name references a Buddhist stupa (a sacred monument), the site is actually a natural cliff and escarpment, formed from ancient seabed deposits eroded over millions of years. Its layers of sedimentary clay and minerals have oxidized into vibrant bands of white, yellow, red, and other colors that shift with the lighting.

The cliffs can reach heights of up to ~60 m (197 ft) and extend ~400 m (1,312 ft) across the flat Gobi plains.

From afar, the formations may resemble ruins or a white stupa, hence the name Tsagaan Suvarga.
