Naadam Festival

• 9:00 Visit Chinggis Khaan Square to witness the procession of the 9 White Banners of State from Parliament House to Central Stadium, accompanied by the vibrantly dressed Mongolian National Army.
• 10:00 Arrive at Central Stadium. The Festival is officially opened with a welcoming speech by the President of Mongolia. Following the opening ceremony, enjoy a grand parade featuring adults and children showcasing the nomadic culture, history, and ethnic diversity of the country, accompanied by traditional music and dance. Visit the archery competitions where participants rely on their keen eye, steady hand, and extensive experience to hit targets, which are typically fist-sized leather balls placed 60 meters away for women and 70 meters for men. Enjoy the ankle bone shooting game. The first round of the wrestling match begins immediately after the opening ceremony.
• 12:30 Drive to Khui Doloon Khudag, the venue for horse races. Horses are integral to Mongolian and nomadic life, and the country boasts a rich heritage of horse culture. The finest horses from across Mongolia gather in Ulaanbaatar for this prestigious National race. Winning at the State Naadam festival brings immense joy and honor.
• Lunch will be a picnic package, depending on travel time and traffic conditions.
• After witnessing the horses cross the finish line, guests will return to the bus for a brief afternoon tea break. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Due to the return of all horse race spectators to the city, the drive may take longer than expected.
The Granite Formations of Baga Gazriin Chuluu
Mandalgovi - Ulaanbaatar – Baga Gazriin Chuluu 250km
• Explore one of the few rocky mountains in the Gobi, Baga Gazriin Chuluu, where stunning granite rock formations have been sculpted into various shapes by the wind and other harsh elements of the Gobi. In the mid-18th century, some high-ranking and locally respected Buddhist monks resided in the area, leaving behind temple ruins and rock inscriptions as evidence of their presence. According to historical sources, Chinggis Khaan also lived here. It’s an excellent spot for a delightful hike.

• This sacred mountain is mentioned in the “Mongolian Secret History”. The 20km long granite rock mountain features various caves, mineral springs, and is home to mountain goats, sheep, eagles, and hawks. Several ancient burial sites of Mongol warriors have been discovered around the mountain. According to traditional Mongolian shamanic beliefs, the names of holy, sacred mountains should not be spoken while present. Optional hiking and moderate climbing are available.
