Arrival & Transfer to Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park - At 7:00 am, our guide will pick you up from Kampala to begin your journey to the renowned Kibale National Park. Spanning approximately 1978 km², this park boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings globally, being home to around 95 mammal species and 612 bird species. A brief stop in Fort Portal for lunch is planned before continuing to Kibale National Park, where an optional evening game drive can be arranged, depending on your arrival time. The journey typically takes 5-6 hours.
Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
Kibale National Park - After enjoying breakfast at your lodge, you will head to the starting point for Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, known for its remarkable variety and concentration of primates in East Africa. The Chimpanzee, man’s closest relative, is the most famous among its 13 species. Post-lunch, proceed to Bigodi for a swamp walk. Bigodi, established by a local development organization, protects the 4 sq-km Magombe Swamp, home to about 200 bird species, including the papyrus gonolek, white-winged warbler, and great blue turaco.
The tour’s highlight is spotting the great blue turaco. The swamp is also ideal for observing butterflies and primates, with 8 different species, including the grey-cheeked Mangabey. The 2-3 hour guided walk is led by knowledgeable local guides, making the trip both educational and enjoyable.
Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After an early breakfast, join the early risers as your driver takes you to Rushaga in the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
This park is famous for its rare mountain gorillas, and the drive offers stunning views of local villages and the lush green countryside and hills typical of southwestern Uganda. Once in the forest park, you’ll find one of Africa’s richest ecosystems, home to about 120 mammal species and 348 bird species. Arrive at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After breakfast, with a packed lunch, report to the park premises for registration by 8:00 am and receive a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. Begin your trek through the dense bushes in search of the magnificent gorillas. There’s also a good chance of encountering other species like birds, monkeys, chimpanzees, and beautiful butterflies. The trek can last 1-8 hours, offering an exhilarating experience as you watch the gorillas interact. Spending an hour with these incredible primates is a truly special moment. After leaving the forest, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, known for its lush terraced hills and numerous islands, perfect for relaxation at the lodge.
Transfer Back to Kampala with Stopover at the Equator
Uganda Equator - Today marks the final day of your trip! After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kampala, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Lunch will be on route, followed by a stop at the equator for the water experiment and photo opportunities, especially if missed on the first day. Continue the journey, and your driver will drop you off at your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe. The journey takes 7-8 hours. Thank you for choosing our company!
