Udawalawe National Park - Udawalawe National Park is situated on the border of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka. This park was established to create a refuge for wildlife displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River and to safeguard the reservoir’s catchment area. Spanning 30,821 hectares (119.00 sq mi), the park was officially opened on June 30, 1972. Prior to becoming a national park, the land was used for shifting cultivation, known locally as chena farming. Farmers were gradually relocated after the park’s designation. Located 165 kilometers (103 mi) from Colombo, Udawalawe is a crucial habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. It is a favored tourist spot and ranks as the third most visited park in the nation.

Elephant Transit Home (ETH) - The Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home, located within Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka, was founded in 1995 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. Its main goal is to rehabilitate orphaned elephant calves and eventually release them back into the wild.
