A Dawn Departure and a Journey into the Wild

The anticipation of a new adventure always fills me with a sense of wonder, and this time was no different. As a wildlife photographer, the allure of Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka was irresistible. Known for its thriving elephant population, the park promised an experience that would be both thrilling and humbling. Our day began in the early hours, with a 4:00 am pick-up by our driver, Ishan. The pre-dawn darkness was a canvas of possibilities, and as we drove through the quiet streets, I felt the familiar thrill of the unknown.

Arriving at the park, we transferred to a safari jeep, our chariot for the day. The air was crisp, and the excitement was palpable as we picked up our park guide.
