Standing on the top if Rainbow Mountain - At 8:30, long after most tourists had departed for Rainbow Mountain, Ellisvan and Juan picked us up at our hotel and drove us through the crazy Cusco traffic, making it look easy. Along the way, we stopped so Elisvan could buy some of the prize winning bread from a vendor. Then he shared it family style.
We passed through villages and farms where the people were dressed in their traditional clothes.
At the emptying parking lot, we piled out and headed up. The timing was excellent because the crowds were gone. It was the hardest 3.2 km walk we'd ever done. Elisvan was solicitous and ended up carrying one of our packs.
At the top, when we hit the spectacular view, he took time to photograph all of us and then the descent began. It was easier than going up, but still hard.
There was Muna tea waiting for us at the van and then the drive down. We stopped at a restaurant where we had preordered our dinner and when we pulled in, we were served a delicious meal immediately.
For the final portion of the journey, Elisvan cranked up the tunes and played us some of his favourites.
I would recommend this trip and guide for anyone who wants to push their limits to see a natural wonder of the world.

Extraordinary experience. Best in Peru so far - Elisvan and Alex were incredible guides to this remarkable spot. The photos don't do it justice and there's no better way to go than with Peru private tours! No waking up at 4am and we had the place almost to ourselves. They took pictures for us and even brought props and great snacks and blankets and water. They truly thought of everything and went above and beyond at every turn. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

The experience was very cultural and fascinating and educational, and also very fun, walking alpacas. - I very much enjoyed the experience, from walking with the alpacas to the pachamama, and the cultural dancing in traditional costumes.

Palcoyo hike - Julio Cesar was a great guide, very knowledgeable, safe and enjoyable personality. We had 4 beautiful alpacas with us who were well cared for by 2 local women who accompanied them. Gorgeous views! Hike was harder than expected in the thin air but there was no rush and only 1 other family on the mountain at the same time. Highly recommend!

Beautiful day on Palcoyo - Our day trip to Palcoyo Mountain was a perfect booking. We appreciated not having a 4am start, and actually ended up being the only 2 on our trip. Sure, the drive to and from is incredibly long, but there is so much to see and take in, it does go quickly. John was our guide and he told us all about the highlands region and the agriculture. The hike up to the top had me short of breath, but John was patient, and walking with my llama friend Sebastian helped. John insisted on giving me a few puffs of oxygen when a headache hit at the top, so he definitely was on top of his job. The lunch stop was late, but it was delicious, and we were offered many snacks beforehand.

Great tour to Palcoyo - The option for Palcoyo was excellent because it was less exhausting. The schedule offered by the company was perfect, as we arrived at the mountain after the crowd that goes early. The company offers a kit with chocolate, bullets, cereal bar and mineral water. The guide Caesar was fantastic, not only in historical and geological information, but also for his kindness. He offered us flowering water during the climb and coca tea when we were on top. The lunch included in the price was in Meson Andino and was a 3-time menu (entry, main dish and dessert), with all delicious items and good quality. I recommend the company and the guide Caesar.

Better than the “other” rainbow mountain! - We stumbled on this tour by accident. We were originally supposed to go to the other rainbow mountain yesterday but I had horrible altitude sickness and we had to cancel. We were trying to find something a little less strenuous to do. The trip was breathtaking! It’s about a 4hr drive each way, about half on dirt roads. I’m a little nervous about mountain roads but Marco was a great driver and I wasn’t worried at all! The views were breathtaking! At normal altitude the trek wouldn’t be bad but at nearly 16000 feet, everything is hard! However, it was very doable even if you aren’t in amazing shape. Nayda was a wonderful guide (along with our llama Hilario) and we took our time and took lots of rests breaks to enjoy the view. She also provided great information on the people and culture of the area. There were no crowds there either!!! We saw a handful of people each way and never had to wait on people to pass to get pics. It has been my favorite excursion in Peru yet!
