This character, representing good, constantly rattles from its mouth. Its adversary is the malevolent witch Rangda, known for her terrifying eyes and hair. The dance aims to banish evil. The term Barong lacks a clear definition, but it is also known as Banaspati Raja (King of the Jungle). The traditional Barong is the Barong Keket, which does not resemble any specific animal. Additionally, there are two other variations: Barong Berutuk (young men wrapped in banana leaves with a mask) and Barong Landung (two giant puppets engaging in dialogue and singing folk songs).
• Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary - The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary spans 27 lush, green acres at the lower end of Jalan Monkey Forest in the village of Padang Tegal. It is home to over 400 long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis), divided into four groups that inhabit different areas of the park. This site is culturally and spiritually significant, attracting over 10,000 visitors each month.
