Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, Jatiluwih Rice Terrace, and Tanah Lot Temple
Taman Ayun Temple - Taman Ayun Temple serves as a primary worship site for the Mengwi people, eliminating the need to travel far to larger temples like the Besakih mother temple in Karangasem, Batukaru Temple in Tabanan, or Batur Temple in Kintamani. It also symbolizes unity among the Mengwi royalty and people. The temple’s towering tiers are a tribute to the Mengwi people’s reverence for their deified noble ancestors, as the temple complex is considered the mother temple of Mengwi.
Handara Iconic Gate - The Balinese gate of Handara is a pathway to serenity and a famous Instagrammable spot in Bali. It is a popular landmark for tourists seeking one of Bali’s top Instagrammable locations for iconic social media photos. Capture a stunning picture in front of Handara Gate with the breathtaking view of green scenery and the grand traditional Balinese gate as your backdrop. Enjoy the amazing green surroundings, beautiful scenery, and the smoky green hills between the gates that create a perfect picture for your Bali holiday.
Ulun Danu Bratan Temple - Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, literally the source temple of Lake Beratan, is one of the island’s most iconic sanctuaries, sharing scenic qualities with the seaside temples of Uluwatu and Tanah Lot. The lake’s smooth reflective surface surrounding most of the temple base creates a unique floating impression, while the Bedugul region’s mountain range encircling the lake provides a scenic backdrop.
Pasar Candi Kuning - Candikuning Fruit Market is renowned for its fresh fruits and vegetables, all sourced from local agriculture fields in the surrounding area. A wide variety of fresh produce is available, including Pomelo, Durian, Rambutan, Manggis, Salak, Mangoes, and passion fruit. Bedugul is famous for its strawberries, which are fine and sweet and easily found in this market.
Jatiluwih Green Land - Once a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site, Jatiluwih Rice Terrace comprises over 600 hectares of rice fields that follow the flowing hillside topography of the Batukaru mountain range. These fields are well-maintained by a traditional water management cooperative known as subak, which dates back to the 9th century.
Tanah Lot Temple - Tanah Lot Temple is an ancient Hindu shrine perched on an outcrop amidst constantly crashing waves, making it one of Bali’s must-see icons. The onshore site features smaller shrines alongside visitor facilities, including restaurants, shops, and a cultural park with regular dance performances.
The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Tour
Lempuyang Temple - Lempuyang Temple is believed to predate most Hindu temples on the island. A highlight for the fit and adventurous, the main temple is located 1,175 meters above sea level on the peak of Mount Lempuyang in East Bali. The heights are accessible via a steep staircase of over 1,700 steps, with attractions along the way, including several other temples and groups of grey long-tailed macaques inhabiting the cool mountain forests.
Tirta Gangga - A visit to Tirta Gangga is incomplete without understanding its history, which dates back to the Karangasem Kingdom. Tirta Gangga was built in 1948 by the King of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. This water park features a unique architectural style blending Balinese and Chinese influences. The garden is designed as a beautiful water garden and is located near a natural spring.
Ujung Water Palace - Visitors to Taman Soekasada Ujung will be captivated by the beauty of Taman Ujung Karangasem. From the southeast, enjoy a magnificent view of the blue sea and Ujung Beach. In the east, admire the charming and unique architecture of Taman Soekasada Ujung as a whole. The Taman Ujung complex combines Balinese, Chinese, and European architecture across three large pools connected by elegant bridges and pathways.
Virgin Beach - Virgin Beach offers stunning views both above and below the water. In addition to black sand beaches and challenging waves for surfing, the peaceful white sand beaches are perfect for relaxing while gazing at the blue sea. Imagine lying on the beach, relaxing on a sun deck with a hat and sunglasses, sipping fresh coconut water, and listening to the waves. Virgin Beach provides this serene experience. The beach is less frequented by tourists and remains largely unexplored by locals. It is known as Virgin Beach due to its natural, uncrowded state, while others refer to it as White Sand Beach, as it is the only white sand beach near Karangasem city.
Tenganan Ancient Village - Tenganan Village is located northwest of Candidasa, about 5 kilometers from the main road. It is a symmetrically laid-out Bali Aga village with walled homes and unique crafts. Bali Aga were the original inhabitants of Bali before the arrival of Hindu Javanese. Tenganan maintains its ancient pre-Hindu customs through a strict code of non-fraternization with outsiders, reinforced by its protective walls. The village is charming and hosts fascinating traditional festivals, such as ritual dances and gladiator battles. The people of Tenganan are skilled in the unique double ikat weaving technique, believed to have magical powers that enhance the beauty of the ikat cloth.
North Bali Tour to Explore Lake Tamblingan, Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, and Hot Spring
Wanagiri Hidden Hills - Wanagiri Hidden Hill is the most popular selfie spot in northern Bali, just a short drive from the iconic Handara Gate. It offers unforgettable views, making it a must-visit for those seeking “Instagrammable” locations.
Tamblingan Lake - From the sky, Tamblingan Lake appears as a twin lake, surrounded by coffee and clove plantations. From Bedugul with its Bratan Lake, it takes only about 15 minutes north to reach Lake Buyan with its glass-like still waters. Following the winding road up the hill, past groups of monkeys on the roadside, you’ll arrive at a junction at the top of the hill. Take the left turn (the straight direction leads to Singaraja city in north Bali).
Banyumala Twin Waterfalls - Banyumala Twin Waterfalls is one of Bali’s most beautiful waterfalls. Despite its incredible natural beauty, it doesn’t yet attract the crowds associated with Gitgit Waterfall. Although not a secret waterfall, if you’re lucky, you may have the entire place to yourself, as few tourists make the effort to visit.
Brahma Vihara Arama Buddhist Monastery - Brahmavihara Arama Buddha Banjar is a Buddhist temple built in the late 20th century, officially opened in 1973. Originally located at Banjar Tegehe near the hot spring area of Banjar Village, the temple was expanded to accommodate the growing number of adherents. The area was expanded to build a Borobudur Miniature, located on the southern part of Brahmavihara Arama.
Banjar Hot Springs - Banjar Hot Spring, locally known as Air Panas Banjar, is a popular tourist destination in North Bali for a relaxing day enjoying the healing sulfurous water. The complex is set in a beautiful tropical garden and consists of three pools. The two main pools are adorned with stone-carved Naga sculptures spewing water into the pools. In Hindu mythology, Nagas are often associated with water and wells and are considered protectors of hidden treasures. The pools are built around the Banjar hot water spring.
Bali Water Sports and Uluwatu Sunset Tour
Water Sport Adventure Bali Dolphin Shop - Bali Water Sports offers a comprehensive range of marine activities with great challenges, excitement, and fun in Tanjung Benoa Nusa Dua. Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park - Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is situated on a limestone plateau in south Bali, high on the Bukit Peninsula, 300 meters above Bali’s shoreline. It offers a grand view of Jimbaran Bay and Kuta to the west, and Tanjung Benoa and Sanur to the east, with Mount Agung and Mount Batur as its backdrop. The park’s focal point is the magnificent Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, which will reach a total height of 126 meters and weigh 3,000 tons, surpassing the Statue of Liberty in New York.
Padang Padang Beach - Padang Padang Beach is unique with its shady hills and steep rocks, characteristic of the beach. These features attract tourists who come for surfing, swimming, and sunbathing. While the big waves beyond the reef breaks are limited to advanced surfers, the shore is perfect for family fun and leisure.
Uluwatu Temple - Uluwatu Temple is a must-visit destination during sunset, attracting crowds of tourists daily. Known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu, it is one of six key temples believed to be Bali’s spiritual pillars. Renowned for its magnificent location atop a steep cliff approximately 70 meters above sea level, the temple shares splendid sunset backdrops with Tanah Lot Temple, another important sea temple on the island’s western shores. Uluwatu Temple is a top spot for sunset views, overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and featuring daily Kecak dance performances.
Kecak and Fire Dance - The Kecak and Fire Dance performance is supported by essential elements, including music that accompanies the dancers’ movements. In the Kecak Dance, the music is created by the combined sounds of 50-70 members chanting “cak,” producing an a cappella rhythm.
Jimbaran Bay - Jimbaran Seafood Dinner is an exciting activity to enjoy fresh grilled seafood under a beautiful sunset panorama. As part of the legendary Indian Ocean, Jimbaran Bay offers a complete seafood experience. Located just a 10-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Kedonganan and Jimbaran Bay stand out from other locations. With new systems and management from the local government, seafood restaurants in Jimbaran are more luxurious and memorable.
Nusa Penida Island Beach Tour
Broken Beach - Broken Beach, locally known as Pantai Pasih Uug, is one of the most picturesque and visited destinations on Nusa Penida Island. Its unique, tranquil, and incredible scenery makes it a great spot for travel photographers and panoramic view seekers. The cliffs, ranging from 50-200 meters high, form a circular shape with a hole in the middle, resembling a cave or sea tunnel. The sea water appears trapped in the middle of the cliff, creating the illusion of a large pond. Broken Beach (Pasih Uug) features a natural pool about 100 meters in diameter, formed by sea abrasion and a collapsed limestone hill millions of years ago. This hole, 98 meters in diameter, offers a unique and scenic view.
Angel’s Billabong - Angel’s Billabong, with its spectacular rock formation near Pasih Uug (Broken Beach), is located on the southwestern end of Nusa Penida Island. Both spots offer views of beautiful cliffs and pristine coastlines. A pathway leads to a naturally formed rock lagoon, providing a scenic seascape and a pleasant swimming spot on the island. It’s recommended to explore Broken Beach first, where you can enjoy a view of natural limestone arches over the blue waters. A trail with signposts leads to Angel’s Billabong from the beach. You can enjoy a dip in the rock pools or swim around the entire lagoon if you’re feeling adventurous.
Kelingking Beach - Kelingking Beach is an iconic beach on Nusa Penida Island. Even if you don’t want to go all the way down, take the small path that descends along the ridgeline for a few meters. It will be much quieter, and the photos will be much better. Another tip is to take your photos before descending, as you may be less photogenic after climbing back up. The first part of the trail, along the ridgeline to the first turn, is relatively easy. You can assess your courage to go all the way down to the beach. If you have children, you may want to stop there and visit Crystal Bay or Atuh Beach, which are more accessible with children.
Crystal Bay - Crystal Bay is a secluded cove with a 200-meter stretch of sand on Nusa Penida’s west coast. Despite its isolation, the bay is easily accessible thanks to well-developed roads. Besides its beautiful, palm-fringed beach, the bay is renowned as one of Nusa Penida’s famous snorkeling and dive sites. The sea is safe for swimming close to the shore during calmer tides, with crystal-clear waters (hence its name). Divers praise the superb visibility, sometimes reaching 30 meters. Crystal Bay is a short drive west from the Coco Resort Penida, one of the few resorts in the island’s western region. Down at the dark-sand beach, you may find a couple of parasol-shaded sunbeds available for rent from locals.
