Must Do in Hanoi!!! - We had the most incredible cooking experience in Hanoi with Thanh. From the very beginning, it felt personal, immersive, and so thoughtful. The market tour alone was worth it — Thanh guided us through both the wet and dry markets, explaining everything in a way that made the culture come alive. We tasted so many new fruits we would have never tried on our own and learned how locals truly shop and cook day-to-day. Back at the venue (which is absolutely stunning, by the way), we learned to cook traditional Vietnamese dishes like pho, beef wrapped in betel leaf, and fresh spring rolls. Thanh broke everything down so clearly and made it feel approachable. What really made the experience unforgettable was Thanh himself — so warm, so knowledgeable, and so generous with his stories about Vietnamese culture and traditions. It felt less like a class and more like spending the day with a friend who genuinely loves sharing his home with you. If you’re in Hanoi, this is an absolute must. A highlight of our entire trip.

Highlight of Hanoi! - Our market tour and cooking class with Trang was the highlight of our time in Hanoi! Trang is a delight, she was so amazing with our kids and had so much history and food knowledge to share! We toured the bustling markets, rode in bicycle carts, and then went to her cooking school in the most tranquil gardens right outside the city! The cooking class was not merely watching her prepare food - we made everything from scratch ourselves, with her helpful guidance. And it was delicious!! Cannot recommend this experience enough!

Great host, great food - Our family of 4 had so much fun and learnt heaps about one of our favourite cuisines. We are glad that the class was hands-on and the private group setting meant we were able to take the class at our pace and ask questions along the way. Thank you Trang and Thanh for a great day overall!

Serenity in the city. - This was without doubt one of the best things we did on our recent vietnam holiday. The whole experience of going to the local fresh market for produce, the picking of fresh herbs at the inner city oasis where the cooking class takes place, The preparation, cooking and of course the feast at the end was truly amazing. Jocelyne our host and teacher was fantastic. She is such a wonderful person who is so friendly and warm she coaches you through the whole class with a huge smile on her face. Big thanks to all the people at Thom culinary For a wonderful day.

Gteat cooking experience - We had such a lovely morning with Thuong at the market, garden and then cooking 4 amazing dishes. The garden is so tranquil out of the craziness of Hanoi. The cake and rice wine were fantastic. Our teenagers enjoyed it too.

Wonderful market and cooking experience; highly recommended - This experience simply could not have been better! John and Trang took me on a fascinating market tour, and then we cooked delicious food at the Thom Culinary site. It was lovely and peaceful, with many plants and trees as well as an herb garden.

Exceptional - Blind experience initially offered by our children Really amazing to make the market in the company of Linh in order to discover (or rediscover) the herbs the fruits of Vietnam that are in abundance What about the boiling market with stalls on the ground scooters passing from right and left Linh has her habits and goes to get the best products reserved for her by the merchants Then it’s the discovery of a haven of peace in the quiet and quiet greenery All the ingredients are ready for this cooking class

Advanced Class, Bespoke Menu - I’m back leaving another review for Thom Culinary after doing a second class, this time a private session with Trang. This was a more advanced experience. We skipped the market and went straight into the menu. The session was designed to explore some of Trang’s most coveted recipes, dishes passed down from her mentors and elders. She has evolved them, honouring tradition while making them her own. What did we make? Bò sốt vang, Hanoi style slow cooked beef with wine and warm spices. Chả ốc hấp lá gừng, fresh snails infused with the aroma of three garden leaves, ginger leaf, lime leaf and xương sông. A dish where water meets garden, releasing a warm, herbal fragrance deeply rooted in old Hanoi kitchens. Nộm đu đủ bò khô, green papaya salad with organic beef jerky and fresh herbs. There were also spirits flowing and a simple, elegant dessert to finish. Words fall short when trying to describe how Trang’s yin yang flavour profiles land on the tongue, like how Gac fruit brings a buttery, mildly sweet, beta carotene richness and colour to the slow cooked beef gravy. Her philosophy of balance is not about neutralising flavours, but letting them coexist, so you can experience everything at once. And she’s just fun. Trang is a rare blend of joy and rigour. Spending time with her and the team at Thom Culinary feels like being with a master chef and family at the same time. This all may sound hyperbolic, but I’ve done enough cooking classes to know that when she releases a cookbook, it’s going to smash it. 👩🏽‍🍳🥘🤍

Great experience! - We had a fantastic experience. Chef Mango took us to a local market, then toured us around the gardens of the space. Finally, she taught us to cook several delicious dishes. She was knowledgeable and fun. We had a great time preparing, cooking, and eating delicious Vietnamese dishes while also learning about their cultural importance, the history of the various ingredients, etc.
