This was a great way to learn more about the arts in Asheville. We were able to visit a varied example of active artists in their own working spaces. Our conversations with the artists were unhurried and very inspirational. They shared freely about their own unique process of creating. Our guide John was clearly known to the artists and even people we saw while we walked between studios. He gave us a good background on the history of the River Arts District and let us know of other studios in the area. We went back the next day to look around some more. He was also thoughtful of our safety, he played crossing guard a few times as we crossed the street!
We thoroughly enjoyed our art tour. Jason was really great and the artists we met (Richard, Daniel and Mack) were terrific. Where we were disappointed was in the reservations. We called on Monday to reserve one of the experience tours and did not hear back until late on Tuesday that this tour was no longer available. Although both numbers I tried had the same voicemail (Alicia), we had hoped to know sooner. We where then offered a different tour at a larger price which seemed inappropriate at best. The young lady we spoke to was very nice and I am sorry that it had all not been handled in a more polished manner. Once again, we enjoyed our art tour very much.
It was great to have the artists open to discuss their work with us.
We all had a great time.
Tour guide arrived promptly on time, after a giant downpour. Tour was enthusiastic, well informed with perspective on the artists and the history of the River Arts district. The guides-artists themselves, what they show you and the arts in Asheville ALL need and deserve our support.
Our tour guide, Jodi, was excellent. She was so informative and knowledgeable about the area and the different artists. I would recommend this to anyone traveling in the Asheville area.
Jody was delightful. just the right amount of history and information. She did the walk to accommodate me as I have trouble walking Very far. She was great.
Our guide was Jodi. She was extremely engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. Loved getting a "behind the scenes" look at the River Arts district. Would definitely recommend.
Tony was a great guide - very informative, enthusiastic and charming! We had the opportunity to meet several artists, hear their stories and experience their love of art. If we had toured the studios on our own, it is unlikely that we would have had as enriching an experience.
Tour was the right amount of time and it was great having the artists show how they created their works. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, with a positive and engaging personality.
It was a great introduction to the River Arts District. Our guide was delightful and knowledgeable and enjoyed the galleries she took us to...especially the Daniel McCleland(sp?) gallery!
Our guide Tony was highly knowledgeable and the choice of "deep dive" galleries well balanced. We liked the human-interest stories on artists as well as the history of RAD ... Learned and enjoyed!!
