Knowledgeable, Friendly Local Guides and Office Staff! I was traveling alone and so it was great to meet so many personable guides! Lots of activities. One morning we hiked up a crater and in the afternoon we kayaked & snorkeled in a cove. I would definitely recommend this group, Gabriela Jorge Carlos Jose Eduardo Ariana Maritza thanks so much!
The whole trip was Fantastic!! Henry was a fount of knowledge and very entertaining. Jose was always there and very helpful. All the accommodations were spectacular, the scenery and all the tours we went on were FIRST CLASS. From the Homestay with "oh my business Rolando Eduardo Roberto", the whitewater rafting with Alex the Irishman, the Casa de Luis, the Termas de Papallacta, the Pinsaqui Hacienda and the Suissotel the whole trip was beautiful, exciting and truly an adventure. Sophie was also a great beginning and ending representative for your company. We will be back.
Great organization, easy communication and immediate response and action! Thanks Gabriela!!
Great experience with Adventure Journeys. Helpful and courteous staff. Perfect combination of adventure, culture and education.
I am very pleased with Adventure Journeys, the staff, itinerary, accommodations, transportation and the very informative experience of Ecuador. I will definitely be booking another tour through them in the near future. I was a little nervous at first, before i arrived, but then as soon as i met Jose and the tour group, my mind was at ease, since I was traveling solo first time ever to South America. I was very comfortable and felt that I was in good hands, and I was! Everything was amazing from the time that I was picked up at the airport, did an amazing tour of Quito and the equator, then The Avenue of the Volcanoes trekking tour through indigenous villages, going up a couple of Volcanoes, checking out a couple of waterfalls and had some excellent meals along with astounding accommodations. I did not think that it was possible for a trip like this to be as perfect as it was. Adventure Journeys proved me to be wrong. Thank you for the opportunity to experience the food, culture and hospitality of Ecuador. And I loved all the helpful information that was provided by Jose about Ecuador's history, politics, economy, and so forth. An experience that will never be forgot!
The itinerary was great. The you guide and driver were great and super knowledgeable and quite fun. The country of Ecuador is beautiful and amazing. We felt we got good value for the price of the trip. It would’ve been good to have some downtime though. There was very little down time and we were always on the go. Also it would’ve been nice to stay 2 nights in the home stay in the jungle and 2 nights in the hot springs and 1 less night in Banos. We had very little time in those amazing places. You are the travel experts and this is probably what you know that works best but this is how we felt. Also I didn’t mind buying some of my own meals but some small things could’ve been easily included like the equator visit, the swing and small things like that wouldn’t impact the price to the customer or your bottom line too much. But really it was a truly amazing trip
Our guides, Jorge (Quilotoa Crater Lake Trek) and Maritza (Galapagos Islands) were fantastic. They were extremely knowledgeable about absolutely everything and made us very comfortable throughout the trip. Thank you!!!
Every aspect of this trip was perfectly executed by our guides. Christian was very personable and knowledgeable - a true professional. The local Galapagos guides were also excellent. Accommodations were very nice - especially Hotel Cormorant directly on the beach. Thanks for a great trip.
Activity’s were interesting and Christian was very attentive and always on top of everything.
Our guide, Paul Aguilar and our driver, Alejandro were fantastic. Paul had all these little surprises along the way. Paul deserves a raise. Alejandro was great, as well. I would recommend the company to anyone.
Being in Ecuador for the first time and wanting to spend some more time seeing something but the Galapagos, I chose this tour as it fit in my schedule. Ecuador Highlights really fits tge description and shows you (some) of the highlight in a very short while. The program is not packed and givesyou time to explore on your own. Sometimes a little extra feature would be nice as some of the hotels (which were generally great) were rather outside. Raffael is very knowledgeable and is happy to pick up any given subject for elaboration. The last stop, Cuenca, turned out to be a highlight of the trip and it’s a pity we could not stay 2 nights there.
Everything was as described. Great guides. Very nice accommodations and good food. The only negative thing I could say is that I wasn’t prepared to pay as many tips as we needed to to extra guides and transporters. I have no problem paying the tips however I would have liked a clearer description of who we would be tipping and how much was an acceptable tip. Would have brought a bit more cash. Would recommend AJ to others, in fact I already have!
Daniel was very knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting and informative.
Quick service on short notice. Knowledgeable. Easy going and willing to put up with our infirmities!
Ecuador came alive with the help of Rafael and Alejandro. Rafael was always informative and cared whether the entire group was engaged and having a terrific trip. He knows his culture and geography and can relate to others the nuances of this Latin American gem. The accommodations and food were varied and above what I expected on this tour. The schedule was a buffet for displaying the variety of each area of the country and the differences between the regions and peoples of Ecuador. The transportation was excellent and Alejandro made sure we were always safe and could take photos of points of interest. I don't think we could have had a better balance of activities and free time, of exercise and rest, and of laughter and reflection. Great job all around. Thank you.
Your guides are very personable and well educated. I felt my needs and interests were always well served. I have already recommended your company to my friends and will place Adventure Journeys at the top of my list when planning another South America vacation.
I had three airport transfers, the Galapagos Essentials tour, and an equator day tour with Adventure Journeys during my time in Ecuador. Every guide was extremely friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the rest of the group that booked the tour cancelled so I was on my own most of the trip, but the guides ensured I still had the best trip possible and even spent more time with me. All transportation and times were clearly laid out and reliable and it made travelling around easy and enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend this company.
Adventure Journeys went way above expectations. Our guide Christian was very friendly and also very knowledgeable about his country. Christian made us feel welcome and was always making sure we were enjoying ourselves. I would recommend Adventure Journeys and make sure to request Christian as your guide.
All of the guides we encountered at AJ seemed genuinely excited to share their country with us. They were knowledgable beyond just the usual info, and George even altered our tour slightly to visit the Central Bank of Ecuador after learning I worked at the US Central Bank.
The trip itself was completely awesome - Mandari Panga is a fantastic project run by fantastic people. My communication with AJ journies prior to the trip was also very good. However, the four star rating is because of two things: 1. We would really have appreciated a briefing on our arrival day, something that was promised by your representative. However, we recieved none and we had quite a few questions we would liked to ask about the practical side of the trip, something that would influence what we pack. 2. On the day of our departure home I could not get hold of anyone from AJ, even through the emergency number - nobody took the phone. We needed to know when the pick-up time from the hotel to the airport was and I had to call to Florida to find out spending quite some time on it.
Our tour guide Giavani with Adventure Journeys was excellent. He was very knowledgeable of the area and extremely helpful in organizing everything. I would definitely use their service again.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did a wonderful job leading us through the Mindo Cloud Forest. We thoroughly enjoyed our day learning about the beautiful city of Quito and town of Mindo.

an amazing experience!
Well-organized tour from start to finish with great guides and great venues!
The Avenue of the Volcanoes tour was an exciting and excellent adventure. The itinerary was laid out in a great way to allow us to acclimatize properly so that by the time we got to Chimborazo, everyone in the group was feeling great and we had a successful and enjoyable hike to the second refuge and beyond. The daily hiking was challenging but the beauty made it worth every step. I loved the variety of lodgings we stayed each night. Each place had a unique style and was spacious, clean, comfortable and surpassed my expectations for what mountain lodging could be. The picnic lunches along the way were delicious, visually appealing and satisfying. What put this trip over the top though was our guide Juan. We’ve done several group treks in the past and I can confidently say that he was the best guide we’ve ever had. He is fun, friendly, and patient. He was organized in executing the itinerary, yet was flexible to allow some variations when we wanted to see or do something extra. As we hiked each day, Juan would tell us about the plants and animals we saw and also had a wealth of knowledge about geology and the history of the country. He was inquisitive and showed great interest in each one of us, allowing us to share our lives and experiences which helped the group bond. He also was open about his own life and it was so valuable to listen to his views and learn about how a local person lives his life in Ecuador today. He allowed for a true cultural immersion. I will remember and value our conversations as much as the stunning scenery we saw along the way. In closing, I love Adventure Journeys and look forward to booking another trip in the future.
Juan and Jorge our tour guides we're the most knowledgeable and kind individuals you could ask for and went out of their way to make this experience unforgettable
My tour was amazing! Alejandro was knowledgable and friendly. He took us on great day around the city and to the equator. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
The trip was extremely well coordinated and organized. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The trip lived up to expectations and I would highly recommend other travelers to consider Adventure Journey.
Our guide, Marcelo, from Adventure Journeys, and Marco, of the host community Mandari Panga, were amazing and were the reason this trip was a 10 out of 10. Their combined knowledge of Ecuador’s history and the jungle is incredible! Their willingness to explain and teach our group about the jungle wildlife and Mandari Panga way of life went beyond a business transaction, it was clear that they cared deeply about spreading their knowledge and providing an amazing experience to our group. The Mandari Panga people welcomed us with open arms into their community and were beyond hospitable. The restroom and sleeping accommodations were impressive for being deep in the jungle. It was very comfortable. The food prepared by the cook, Michael, and his family was incredible and gave a safe and authentic native cuisine experience. I would recommend Adventure Journeys to anyone interested in traveling to Ecuador, guaranteed to have an unmatched adventure of a lifetime!
Had an amazing time in Ecuador! All of the guides, drivers, staff were wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic adventure
Adventure Journeys provided my wife and I with a truly amazing experience. The airport transfers, tour guide, local guides and accommodations, adventure activities and everything in between left us feeling safe and comfortable in a country to which we had never traveled. As a busy couple, we were looking for a trip that would be relaxing while also enabling cultural immersion and some adventure. We couldn't have been happier with the itinerary chosen for our trip that provided the perfect mix of activities for which we were looking, executed at an ideal pace, with a great group of people. We hope to return to Ecuador in the future and wouldn't think of booking with anyone other than Adventure Journeys.
