My husband and I used AJ to coordinate and book airport transfers, a Traditional City Tour and Equator Line Tour, and the 12-day Best of Ecuador and Galapagos Tour. We had an absolutely fantastic time, and the trip exceeded our high expectations in every possible way. While preparing to travel, Gabriela in the office was prompt to respond to all inquiries and e-mails, and her answers to our questions were always very thorough. The pre-travel information provided, including the itinerary and suggested packing list were exceptionally helpful. We arrived at the Quito airport late in the evening after a long day of travel, and Jorge was easy to find, friendly, and energetic. Our transfer to our Quito hotel was seamless, which was a great way to start the trip. The Swissotel was exceptionally nice. A great place to start our trip. Eduardo was our guide for the Quito City Tour. He arrived at the Swissotel to pick us up early, and was extremely professional. We absolutely loved all the sites around the city he was able to show us, including the equator museum outside the city. He was very conversational and it was evident he loves showing visitors his city. My husband and I exclaimed multiple times how happy we were that we had selected to take this tour, because it was a great introduction to Ecuador, it's culture, food, and welcoming people. We loved visiting the Old Town and having lunch in the historic city center with Eduardo. We have no negative feedback or suggestions for improvement on this tour. We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to any and all visitors to the city and country. Paul was our guide for the remainder of our trip. I do not even know where to begin expressing my gratitude for him. Overall the trip was EXCEPTIONAL in every possible way, and much of our positive experience can be attributed to Paul. His enthusiasm for his work is absolutely infectious. It is evident he truly enjoys guiding these adventures. His work-ethic is unparalleled. For Paul, no ask seemed to small and no task seemed to big. His helpful, gracious, courteous manner was evident with every action he took during every hour of every day. He treated everyone he encountered - his colleagues, hotel staff, restaurant staff, other guides, strangers, and his fellow adventures with great care and respect. He was not just our guide, he became our friend by the end of the trip. Andreas, our driver, was also indispensable. He was not just our driver, but another friend travelling with us. Despite language barriers, we were still able to get to know his personality well, and he provided many good belly laughs. The "surprises" he set up for us (including, but not limited to: lunch while when we were finished trekking Cotopaxi, hot drinks mid bike-trip, post-rafting beverages, etc.) were so much appreciated. His driving was exceptional, and not once did we ever feel like we were not in safe hands. The trip would not have been the same without him. The accommodations during this trip were exceptional. The Amazon homestay was a highlight, and we were happy not to have missed this unique opportunity. Ideally we would have liked to have spent more time at each of our overnight locations, but with the limitations on time-away from home imposed by our professions, we can't believe how much we were able to see. All accommodations were clean, comfortable and safe. Breakfasts (and all other included and non-included meals), provided by accommodations were fantastic. We slept very well each night - better than home! The locations of all the accommodations were ideal. We have no recommendations for improvement. The excursions/activities during this trip were exceptional. There is no way to pick a favorite. We loved being able to do such a wide variety of activities, and loved that we had a unique adventure each day. The zip-lining in Banos was a welcome addition to our trip. The waterfalls were exceptional. Although our mountain biking weather was less than ideal (cold rain!) it was an experience we will never forget. Many of us were first-time white-water rafters and will never forget our first set of rapids. Canyoning with Eddie and Ronaldo was quite an adventure, and they made us laugh during our entire trek. Trekking in Cotopaxi was a great experience, and we were so glad the clouds cooperated to allow us to see the peak of Cotopaxi, if only for a minute. The snorkeling in the Galapagos was exceptional - unlike anywhere we have ever been - and the boat ride to the snorkel destinations were equally as enjoyable as the underwater adventures. Never once did we feel pressured to participate in an activity where we did not feel 100% safe, and the pace of each activity was very appropriate for our group. Again, nothing but positive feedback and compliments to your crew. The evenings shared dining with Paul, Andreas, and our fellow trip-mates were relaxing and enjoyable. The Ecuadorian food was out-of-this world delicious, and we already miss our nightly servings of Locros! The variety of fresh, tropical fruits and fruit juices was awesome, and we always appreciated all the recommendations. We loved sharing the meals with Paul, Andreas, and our tripmates, and were glad we dined together all nights. Overall this trip was a 10 out of 10. There is absolutely no room for improvement in any way. It was absolutely exceptional. I know this has already been stated, but Paul is an absolute gem. He is honestly one of the most genuinely wonderful people we have ever encountered anywhere (at home or during travel). We can not thank him enough for all the selfless effort he put into ensuring our trip was as safe and enjoyable as possible. When we travel to South America again, we would absolutely use AJ for our trip. If we have friends or family that travel to South America, we will recommend AJ without hesitation. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience.
