An awesom experience with Miguel Amar at Coba and Punta Laguna - We (my 10-year-old grandson, my son-in-law, and me, the grandma) had a fabulous day with our guide, Miguel Amar. Miguel was recommended by my daughter who is an avid bird photographer. She and her husband are repeat customers of Miguel’s. But this trip was unique because we had a 10-year-old boy who loves birds, animals, and staying active. He was thrilled to ride a bike in the Coba archeological site while grandma got a ride in a bike- carriage. He and dad climbed the highest structure (Noboch Mul Pyramid) which now has steps. My grandson was delighted to see a crocodile swimming in a lake and loved spotting birds. We were able to capture cell phone photos of a beautiful motmot. We also wanted to see monkeys, a long-time favorite of my grandson. We saw howler monkeys in Punta Laguna and spider monkeys along the way. I was so impressed with Miguel because he adapted the trip to suit an active 10-year-old. We ziplined across a lake which was fun even for an old grandma. Then we canoed back across the lake to go swimming in a cenote. The cenote was deep underground and had a rope ladder in its narrow opening. This was so much fun because we rappelled down; actually they attached a harness and lowered me down. We had the cenote all to ourselves, admired the structure, spotted some bats, and did not want to leave. Miguel answered all my grandson’s numerous questions and encouraged him to have his own Ebird account. Miguel is well known for his ability to find and identify birds, other local animals, and explain the culture and history of the area. However, his ability to make sure my grandson had a memorable experience while motivating him to stay curious about nature was very impressive. I highly recommend tours with Miguel Amar.

Amazing day bird watching in Coba & Punta Laguna! - We had the most amazing day. Hiel (I’m definitely spelling that incorrectly, my apologies!!) was an incredibly knowledgeable and kind guide who taught us lots about the fauna and flora of Coba and Punta Laguna as well as Mayan history. We had some delicious food made by Manuel in his beautiful home. My partner couldn’t have been happier for his birthday present, and we would absolutely recommend it to any bird lover who wants to learn about Mayan culture. Thank you for organising such an enriching and inspiring tour!
