Breathtaking! An amazing experience and lovely pilot/guide. - I’m a bid mad on volcanoes and knowing there was no way I’d be able to hike up Mount St Helens to see it properly (maybe 30 years ago haha) we booked this air tour. It was absolutely brilliant. Lasted about an hour in total and our pilot & guide was amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable. He chatted to us throughout the trip and we got some amazing views of Mount St Helens as he circled around it. We just did the tour of the one volcano, but got to see many of the other volcanoes from a distance too including Mt Adams and Mt Rainer. The plane was small, but comfortable and the take offs and landings were very smooth. I’d never been in a small plane before, but absolutely loved the experience. Such amazing views! If we ever revisit Washington and Oregon I’d definitely do this again or one of the other tours they offer. Just breathtaking.

Nothing like flying low over Mt St Helens - Great flight over Mt St Helens - leaves quite an impression to fly low right over the crater and see the fumes wafting off the bump that is growing in the volcano, waiting to explode again. If you aren’t sumitting the mountain, as most of us aren’t, really no substitute. I recommend flying at sunset - apparently the light is best at the beginning and end of the day but there are likely more clouds in the morning. We previously did a shorter flight up the Columbia river gorge which was worth doing, but not the same as swooping low over a volcano. Also flying north you are going toward a whole cluster of volcanoes, and they feel so much closer in the air that you get a sense of the whole region as a connected volcanic feature.
