Must do ! Book now best experience ever - This is a must do, learning about the Sami culture, reindeer feeding, 3 course meal which was delicious all served in an amazing tent , and a salad ride which was amazing under the northern lights. We chose this company and they have great ethical and eco values and the reindeer are so well looked after . We were blown away one of the bare experiences of of loved

Hello, santa! We are coming to town - Reindeer feeding and sleigh were both fantastic experience. Meeting place is easy to find
The reindeer seems to be jumping on our back , maybe asking for more feeding, which is a little scary and certainly scared my wife, which cused her to abandon the feeding participation.
The Sami culture story telling was enlightening and entertaining. Although the chance to have a northern light sighting ahould have not been offered, for it was never mentioned in the tour and it misled us in believing that we will be lucky to see the northern lights.
We came back with disappointment.
Good my daughter who went on an aurora hunting trip last november suggested we should take an exclusive aurora hunting with Wandering Owl, which is a 15 years tour operator and we were lucky to have joined it in last minute registration on the next day, despite being discouraged due to the end season for northern light hunting in end of march. I suggest not to take this tour for aurora hunting, you will likely to get disappointed. Join an exclusive hunting expedition instead
Overall, this tour is marvelous and full of excitemnt

Nice experience but lack of authenticity - Beautiful herd of free reindeer in a “false camps by the road”
Reindeer feeding: magical and funny moment (watch out for reindeer antlers that can hurt children’s eyes)
Sled ride: pleasant moment. 15’ walk with an Indian line of sleds attached to each other.
Meals: delicious in a wooden cabin around the fireplace. Beware very cool temperature despite everything inside (it was especially cold the day we went there. -15¢C )
Discovery moment of Sami culture given by a young Sami passionate about its history + Traditional songs around the fire = magic moment.
In short nice experience for my 10-year-old daughter and myself, although I expected something more traditional and authentic.

Nice evening with room for improvement - The reindeer were cool (albeit a bit aggressive because of the Mating Season). The food was great and everyone was very nice. You could also get to know the Sami culture, but there was no time to really get to grips with the culture. Stories as advertised so I didn't really exist. The expectation on our part was rather thought of legends or real campfire stories with storytellers, but there was only a short question answer round and bits of information about the culture. It's a shame, because there would definitely be potential here.

Great experience in a very large group - A very special experience! Feeding the reindeer and standing in the middle of the herd was absolutely impressive. The cosy wooden cabins with open fires were also beautiful – perfect for warming up with hot tea, coffee or chocolate. The 3-course menu was fine (salmon salad, reindeer stew, chocolate cake). We particularly liked the talk about the Sami, which offered exciting insights. Somewhat exhausting, however, was the heavy smoke in the tent from the open fire. Overall a great experience! You should be aware that it is an event with about 100 guests.

Just did not deliver at all. - This is a difficult review to write as generally I try and write positive reviews, this event just fell short on all fronts.
We were unsure if we would book this, but we wanted to feed the reindeer and as the tour mentioned the “chance of seeing Northern Lights”, we thought why not! Plus, a short sled ride and dinner in the tent, along with stories and songs which sounded entertaining. That said it was expensive for what it turned out to be and not something we would do again or recommend. I feel the chance of seeing NL is stretching it given proximity to Tromso and the floodlights at the camp. You would have to have perfect conditions and even then I am not sure!
The location is not actually that far out of Tromso, the day before we had an email to say the sled rides might be cancelled due to a lack of snow and the weather. A part refund was offered and communication was good. As it was, they were not cancelled, we chose not to do the ride in the end.
The bus collected us on time from the bus station and that was well organised and efficient. Upon arrival we had a short walk up a slope to the camp. There were toilets just sited at the edge of the camp (porta cabin type loos not on mains). They were clean enough. The camp itself has massive flood lights all around it, highlighting the reindeers and camp. The main area where the reindeer were (and they were great to be fair and we enjoyed feeding them), was just a big area of slushy mud. We were given 90 minutes to feed the reindeer which I feel coincides with the time that is needed to accommodate the sled rides, 90 minutes to feed the reindeer is just way too long, to be fair 30 minutes would be enough.
The people booked on the sled ride (which took about 20 minutes with 10 minutes set up), were set off in batches of about 15 in a long queue, so with a bus load of people, circa 60 it takes a while for all the rides to be undertaken. Hence the time to feed the reindeer.
We choose not to do the sled ride as I just could not see the appeal of being taken around a somewhat muddy area with minimal snow on a sled in a long line of people (not at all like the website portrays).
Getting bored we went into one of the tents to grab a hot drink and biscuit (very nice).
We then just waited around for the people to finish the sled rides. By then the reindeer had clearly had enough to eat and just wandered off.
We then had the meal, three courses which again was certainly nice enough, we asked for seconds on the stew which was given. The pudding was so sweet it just tasted of sugar. We were sat with a lovely American couple so that helped pass the time.
After that we then all walked to the tent for the Sami stories, the tent was totally smoke filled, with the door shut and damp weather the whole room smelt like a bonfire, to be fair we nearly got up and left it was so bad. We were sat as far back as possible from the fire. Even though we were promised traditional Sami stories and songs what we got was the 12-month cycle of the reindeers, it lacked any real character and nothing we could not have found out ourselves.
We were pleased (and relieved) when it came to an end, and we were able to leave. This review is not about the weather, but to us if felt like the whole evening had been “padded out” to justify the cost circa £350.00. It was 4 – 4.5 hours in total door to door, but really could have been done and dusted in half the time.
The reindeer were great, the rest really nothing to write home about, we felt it was overpriced for what it was! The only event we did in Tromso that was a disappointment. Before you book check this is right for you!
