A great first NL Hunt and amazing guide! - We were in Tromso for a week and had booked three evening Northern Lights Tours, this was our first. So, we had no real idea of what to expect. We wanted small groups (8 and no kids) so we booked the adult tour which I can recommend. What I can say about WO was that out of all the companies we used they were the only one who did a safety briefing before we left, where the first aid kit was in the van, what numbers to call in an emergency and what to expect. Our guide (the only female guide we had while in Tromso) was EXCELLENT. She chatted nonstop about Tromso, Norway, she explained where we were going, all about the lights, the different colours and it was clear for all to see that she was totally enthused about her job. That came across the entire 6 hours! It was a great first introduction to NL Hunting. Top tip – make sure you are ready to leap out of the van at short notice, so have your spikes on and only take a light bag with essentials. If you have mobility issues this may limit access to some areas so think carefully what type of tour you want to book and with whom. We ended up climbing down a fairly steep (slippery bank), but we all managed and no one was left to struggle on their own. She gave everyone help with their phones and assisted with settings. We ended up in a great spot near a lake which had some brilliant houses as a backdrop. Lots of photos were taken by all and our guide went out of her way to make sure everyone was included. It was a nice touch the homemade soup and later on homemade chocolate drinks and ginger nut biscuits. Great personal touches the other tours did not provide (they provided packet meals made with boiling water). We would be happy to suggest WO, there are so many companies to pick from (and we had done tonnes of research) but I have to say they are all in fact quite different!

Best holiday activity! Thanks Aneta! - Aneta took us on a brilliant tour and we had a wonderful night. She showed excellent knowledge of the area and of the auroras. And created a lovely environment with warm soup and drinks. Her enthusiasm for the lights, combined with her amazing photography skills, made the whole night unforgettable. We gathered around a campfire with vegetable soup, homemade cookies, and hot chocolate, which added such a cosy touch. Being in a small group made the experience feel personal and allowed us to move quickly when finding the best spot to watch the aurora.

A wonderful experience we will never forget - We had the most amazing evening on our Aurora Borealis hunt with Wandering Owl. Our guide, Aneta, was absolutely lovely – incredibly knowledgeable, a fantastic photographer, and so genuinely enthusiastic about the outdoors and the northern lights that her excitement was contagious. Aneta stayed in constant contact with the other guides, which meant she was able to take us to quiet, deserted viewpoints in the mountains and by the water, far away from the big coach tours and crowds. We were in a small group of just eight people in a very comfortable, well-equipped minibus, which allowed us to reach places the larger buses simply can’t. The aurora displays we saw that night were truly spectacular and something we will never forget. We were so lucky to see the lights from several different locations, and at times they filled the sky completely – it was absolutely breathtaking. At one stop, Aneta even set up a campfire, which added a magical touch to both the experience and our photos. We were treated to hot soup and bread, which was very welcome on such a cold night. Later, we visited a spot by the water where we were able to capture stunning reflections of the aurora with the mountains in the background. Aneta surprised us again with flasks of hot chocolate and delicious cookies, which were the perfect way to warm up and relax while enjoying the view. We loved this trip from start to finish. Wandering Owl came highly recommended by friends, and they completely lived up to our expectations. A truly wonderful experience – thank you, Aneta, for making it so special.

Amazing experience chasing the aurora lights - Aneta was our guide /driver and she was fantastic. She drove us to places she knew would be great for viewing the aurora while enhancing the experience with wonderful geography for our photography. She provided us enough time at each stop. She was great with the photography, being sure to take pictures of all the couples with amazing aurora in the background. We recommend to anyone interested in learning about the area while experiencing the aurora hunt.

Bucket list experience! Thanks Aneta & WO! - Aneta took us on the best tour and set our expectations as to what we could expect from the evening. We were very lucky and the auroras were even better than expected and Aneta enthusiasm for them teamed with her brilliant photography made this a night to remember. We huddled around a campfire and had some delicious vegetable soup, home made cookies and hot chocolate. Going with a small group made the experience really special and meant we could be agile when finding a spot to hunt the Aurora.

Fantastic evening with excellent guide - We had a fantastic evening in a beautiful location. Although we only briefly saw a “baby Aurora” this evening was unforgettable. Our guide Bart has squeezed himself into all kinds of bends to make the evening great! No effort was too much and he also took nice pictures of everyone and emailed them neatly. It's also nice that it's a small group.

Amazing! - Had a great evening with Anna going Aurora hunting. Not only was Anna super friendly and informative, but she also demonstrated some fantastic knowledge of the local weather patterns to find us some perfect clear skies on what was ostensibly a night of dense cloud. It was truly a very special trip for us and I can't recommend Anna and Wandering Owl enough to anyone who is looking for a great Northern Lights experience

Great small group tour, with incredible lights! - Evgeny took us on our first day in tromsø on a truly once in a lifetime view of the northern lights. Going in, we had limited expectations due to weather and our short time. When we got in the van, he suggested to take us to the beach instead of inland. The adults-only small group was worth it because we were in a smaller van of only six, which means we could take smaller roads and make short quick stops in quieter areas. While the weather was saying clear skies after 930, we got really lucky and found a spot where they cleared early, and the aurora was extremely active, basic iPhone photos and videos were able to pick up a lot of it, which surprised me. Even after the show, Evgeny showed great support by setting up the camp fire and finding some unique spots to incorporate the mountains with the northern lights we were getting for our photos. Thanks again to wandering owl for the great tour!

Making memories of a lifetime with Wandering Owl - I went with Wandering Owl Adults Only Aurora Hunt on New Year's Eve and Bart made it a truly memorable night. It was a frigid night and he was relentless in finding a scenic location away from crowds and large tour busses and kept an eye out for Aurora activity. His efforts paid off as he got us to a beautiful location and the lights began and he took wonderful pictures and built a warm fire around which we sat as he told stories about the auroras and the history of Norway. As we were driving back, the lights came out again and he quickly pulled over so we could take more pictures. It was such a fabulous night. Don't waste your money or time on other tours, take this one!
