Derinkuyu Underground City - After a 40-minute drive, guests arrive at the Underground City. Initially used by locals as a natural deep freeze, it later served as a shelter for the late Romans against potential Arabian invasions. With the guide’s detailed explanations, visitors spend nearly an hour exploring.
Ihlara Valley - Located 52 km from the Underground City, Ihlara Canyon is reached after approximately 45 minutes. Formed by volcanic activity from Mt. Hasan and erosion by the Melendiz River, the 80-meter-deep canyon stretches 14 km. Historically, Christians inhabited parts of the valley, carving and painting churches. Guests will hike about 3.5 km, lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes, before arriving at a restaurant for lunch.
Selime Monastery - Initially resembling a castle, the monastery’s shelters, churches, chapels, bedrooms, storages, and large cathedral reveal its monastic nature. Guests learn about monastic life in Cappadocia.
Pigeon Valley - The climb to Selime Monastery may be tiring, but guests have about an hour to rest before reaching Pigeon Valley. The guide shares traditions, cultures, and stories about Anatolia along the way. Upon arrival, pigeons greet visitors at the top of the valley. Pigeons have been significant to Cappadocians, with their eggs and droppings used for various purposes. Locals carved “houses” for them into the valley slopes, which guests will see firsthand.
Kapadokya El Sanatları Merkezi - The tour concludes with a visit to an onyx factory in Uçhisar. Onyx, a volcanic stone with various colors and minerals, is found in Cappadocia. At the factory, a master explains the onyx shaping process and demonstrates a shaping show.
