Devrent Valley - Also known as Imaginary Valley or Pink Valley, Devrent Valley is unique for its lunar-like landscape, unlike other valleys in Cappadocia that feature cave churches. The valley is renowned for its unusual rock formations, including small fairy chimneys that create a moonscape. Visitors can spot rocks shaped like animals, such as camels, snakes, seals, and dolphins.
Fairy Chimneys - In Pasabag, visitors can admire the remarkable earth pillars located in the middle of a vineyard. The name “Pasabag” translates to “the Pasha’s vineyard,” with “Pasha” meaning “General” in Turkish. This site, also known as Monks Valley, features cones carved in tuff stones that stand apart. A vineyard and several tuff cones are situated right next to the road.
Avanos - Avanos, a town in the heart of Cappadocia, is famous for its pottery. The tour includes a stop at a pottery workshop where visitors can watch a pottery demonstration and even try their hand at pottery making.
Goreme National Park - The Göreme Open Air Museum is Cappadocia’s most renowned attraction, featuring a complex of medieval painted cave churches carved by Orthodox monks. The museum includes over 10 cave churches, along with rectories, dwellings, and a religious school, forming a large monastic complex within a ring-shaped rock formation. Visitors can explore the cave churches by following a clearly marked path counterclockwise, with each church named by local villages based on prominent features.
Uchisar - Uchisar is a troglodyte village located 4 km east of Göreme, known for its massive rock formation once used as a fortification. This impressive rock is the highest peak in the region, offering a stunning panoramic view of Cappadocia with Mt. Erciyes in the distance. Many rooms in the castle are interconnected with stairs, tunnels, and passages, featuring millstone doors at the entrances to control access. Although erosion has limited access to some rooms, many on the north side are still used as pigeon houses today. Farmers collect pigeon droppings from these houses as a natural fertilizer for orchards and vineyards.
The Three Beauties (Uc Guzeller) - According to legend, a fairy sultan’s beautiful daughter fell in love with a shepherd in Cappadocia. Despite the sultan’s efforts, she eloped with him, and they had a child. Enraged, the sultan sent soldiers to find them. As the soldiers approached, the daughter prayed to God to keep her family together, and they were transformed into three beautiful fairy chimneys, remaining united forever.

Pigeon Valley - Pigeon Valley is home to thousands of pigeon houses carved into the rock, creating a surreal landscape reminiscent of a Salvador Dali painting. The conical formations, known as fairy chimneys, resulted from volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. Over time, natural forces have shaped the volcanic rock into tufa, a soft and malleable stone, with many cones containing caves and labyrinths.
Love Valley - A feud between two families divided a village into two regions, preventing young people from interacting. However, two villagers brought a young couple together, sparking love at first sight. The village’s hostility intensified, leading to spells and fights. Despite the challenges, the couple married and had children. Tragically, the man was killed, and the woman committed suicide. Legend says God rained stones on Love Valley, preserving it to this day.
Cavusin - The village’s initial settlements were carved into massive rock masses, serving as religious centers during the Roman and Byzantine periods. These areas were used for worship and refuge, particularly by Christian monks. Pathways provide access to the rocky hilltops.
Kaymakli - The Kaymakli Underground City, built under the hill known as the Citadel of Kaymaklı, opened to visitors in 1964. The residents of Kaymaklı (Enegup in Greek) constructed their homes around nearly 100 tunnels of the underground city. Today, locals still use the tunnels as cellars, storage areas, and stables, accessible through their courtyards. The underground city features low, narrow, and sloping passages, with 8 floors below ground, though only 4 are open to the public, organized around ventilation shafts.
