A Morning of Discovery: Setting Off from Barcelona

Our adventure began bright and early, as we departed from Barcelona at 7 am. The kids were still a bit sleepy, but the promise of a day filled with exploration had them buzzing with excitement. As we drove towards Tossa de Mar, the sun began to rise, painting the sky with hues of pink and orange. It was a peaceful start to what promised to be an exhilarating day.

Upon arriving in Tossa de Mar, we embarked on a scenic walk along the Costa Brava. The path was gentle enough for my youngest to manage, and the views were simply breathtaking. The Mediterranean stretched out before us, its waters shimmering in the morning light. We paused frequently to take in the sights and snap a few family photos. The walk was a perfect blend of exercise and education, as we discussed the unique coastal ecosystem and the history of the region.

Exploring the Depths: A Glass-Bottomed Boat Adventure

By 11 am, we were ready for the next leg of our journey—a boat ride that promised to be the highlight of the day. The small glass-bottomed boat was a hit with the kids, who were thrilled to see the underwater world come to life beneath their feet. As we sailed along the coastline, our guide shared fascinating stories about the caves we were about to explore.

Entering the caves was like stepping into another world. The light danced off the water, creating a magical atmosphere. Our guide handed out fish food, and the kids delighted in watching the fish swarm around the boat. It was a hands-on learning experience that they won’t soon forget. After exploring the caves, we continued to Cala Giverola, a stunning beach where we had the option to disembark and enjoy some free time.

A Stroll Through History: Discovering Tossa de Mar

After our nautical adventure, we returned to Tossa de Mar with plenty of time to explore the town. We wandered through the narrow streets of the old medieval village, marveling at the ancient walls and fortress that have stood the test of time. The kids were fascinated by the history, and I took the opportunity to share stories of knights and castles.

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at a local café, savoring the flavors of the region. The afternoon was spent hiking to a vantage point that offered panoramic views of the town and coastline. The hike was manageable for the whole family, though I would recommend wearing sturdy shoes for the rocky sections. The effort was rewarded with a breathtaking view that made for a perfect family photo.
