Start your day with our shuttle and transfer services, where you will be picked up from the only unrestricted Tongariro Crossing Carpark, depending on your chosen departure time. To enhance your understanding of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, we will share our local knowledge, culture, and stories during the journey. This information will be provided as you are driven to the heart of Tongariro National Park, home to New Zealand’s renowned one-day hike, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The transfer to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing track at Mangatepopo Road takes approximately 30-40 minutes. During this journey, you will experience our ‘Māori blessings,’ where everyone gathers for a speech in Māori, followed by an English explanation, lasting about 5 minutes in total.

After the Māori and English speeches, a team photo will be taken—one for safety and another for fun! This photo will be available for free on our social media pages and website.

For those hiking down the mountain, it is recommended to use walking poles to reduce pressure on your legs (not included).

In the afternoon, upon completing the Tongariro Crossing trail at the Ketetahi end platform, it is just a 900-meter walk downhill to your parked vehicle. Enjoy the convenience of all-day parking, allowing you to hike the Tongariro Crossing without time constraints.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION - Know Before You Go

New Zealand’s weather can be unpredictable. Always check forecasts and be prepared for four seasons in one day.

We collaborate with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation Weather Forecasts & Mountain Safety Council to encourage adherence to their outdoor safety code.

• Wear high-quality hiking boots
• Layer your clothing—avoid cotton; thermal and fleece are good choices as they remain warm when wet
• Waterproof and windproof outerwear is essential
• Carry a warm hat and gloves, even in warm weather, to avoid being caught out by sudden changes
• Bring spare toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as these are not provided at the non-composting toilets along the Tongariro trail
• Use and pack high-factor sun protection
• Your food and water intake will increase—pack plenty of water to prevent dehydration and extra high-energy food
• During daylight savings, pack a torch in case you return later than expected
• Respect people, the land, and the environment for preservation. Please pack out what you pack in.
