Located 70km from Bishkek and 12km from the town of Tokmok, the Burana Tower is the last remnant of the ancient city of Balasagun.
Once part of the Kalahandi khaganate, which existed between the 9th and 11th centuries, Balasagun was ransacked by the Mongols in 1218. By the 14th century, the city was destroyed and left in ruins.
- Kok Moynok Eki - Kok Moynok Canyons are about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from our first location. Here, you can enjoy a basic hiking adventure through the canyon paths. This perfect stop between Bishkek and Issyk-Kul features unique rock formations in the mountains, with amazing stone designs. These formations were created after an ancient ocean, which existed thousands of years ago, receded. The area was once submerged under the waters of the giant Issyk Kul lake, and now the unique rock waves reflect its past beauty.
