Agadir - Tiznit - Tafraoute
Tiznit - Guests will be collected from their accommodation in Agadir in the morning to embark on a journey south along the Atlantic coast towards Tiznit, a historic town renowned for its traditional silver jewelry. After a brief visit to the old medina, the journey continues inland towards the breathtaking landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Tafraoute - The route meanders through dramatic granite mountains and small Amazigh villages before arriving at the delightful town of Tafraoute, nestled in a valley surrounded by distinctive pink granite rock formations. Nearby, visitors can also admire the famous painted rocks, a remarkable art installation by Belgian artist Jean Vérame.
Tafraoute - Tata - Foum Zguid - Erg Chegaga
Foum Zguid - After lunch, the journey proceeds to Foum Zguid, the gateway to the Sahara.
Erg Chigaga - From this point, the paved road ends, and the adventure continues off-road across desert landscapes, dried lake beds, and rocky plains to reach the expansive dunes of Erg Chegaga, the largest and most remote sand dunes in Morocco. Upon arrival at the desert camp, guests will enjoy a camel ride across the dunes and pause to witness the unforgettable sunset over the Sahara.
Erg Chigaga - In the evening, guests can savor a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Amazigh music around the campfire before spending the night in a luxurious desert tent beneath the stars.
Erg Chegaga - Tamegroute Pottery - Kasbah Tamnougalte - Agdz
Erg Chigaga - Early risers can awaken to watch the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before enjoying breakfast at the camp. Afterwards, the journey leaves the desert and heads towards the lush Draa Valley, renowned for its endless palm groves and historic kasbahs.
Tamegroute Pottery and Handcrafts - The first stop will be the village of Tamegroute, famous for its traditional green pottery workshops where artisans continue centuries-old ceramic techniques. Visitors will also explore the historic library containing ancient manuscripts.
Tamnougalt - The journey then continues along the Draa Valley to visit the impressive Kasbah Tamnougalte, one of the oldest kasbahs in southern Morocco and once a significant stop on the caravan trade routes.
Agdz - In the afternoon, the journey arrives in the tranquil oasis town of Agdz, surrounded by palm groves and kasbahs.
Agdz - Taznakht - Talioune - Taroudant - Agadir
Tazenakht - After breakfast, the journey back towards Agadir begins. The first stop is the town of Tazenakht, renowned throughout Morocco for its hand-woven carpets. Here, visitors can explore local cooperatives and learn about traditional weaving techniques.
Taliouine - The journey then continues to Taliouine, the heart of Morocco’s saffron production. If time permits, a visit to a small saffron cooperative may be possible to discover how this precious spice is harvested and prepared.
Taroudant - Next, the journey travels to the historic city of Taroudant, often referred to as “Little Marrakech.” Surrounded by impressive red ramparts, the city offers lively souks and traditional markets.
Agadir - In the afternoon, the journey returns to Agadir, arriving in the early evening, marking the end of the desert adventure.
