Lovely Scenery - Villa d’Este was definitely our favorite of the two. The fountains and gardens were so beautiful and there weren’t many people so it was very peaceful. The only downside was how many stairs there were.

5 hour magical mystery tour - Starting at delpopolo around 9am we were in hadrian's villa by 10am. Having been there 27 years ago i tought it might be just a nice recap. But several new sites are now open to the public including frescos id not seen. In my humble opinion hardrian is in the top 5 of the great emperors...for history buffs and/ or just getting out into rural rome this, plus the lavish gardens of villa d'este. Tivoli gardens to most of us is a must. We were blessed to have the charming monique as our host/guide. Very informative knows her stuff. Backed up by our driver alessandro...very professional...highly recommended

Definitely a must do - A wonderful half day out! Exactly as much time as I wanted at each site. Make sure you have a nice big breakfast so that you don’t get too hungry; I’m glad we didn’t stop for lunch though as it would have made the trip last a full day, whereas this way I have my whole afternoon free as well.
