Worth a day trip from Rome - We had an amazing time visiting these place. Our driver was prompt at picking us up from our hotel. Very comfortable 4-door mid-sized sedan car as well—perfect for 2 in the backseat (having 3 people would of been tight. If that is your case, as for a bigger car). The tour guide accompanied us in the car, pointing out a few interesting details as we were leaving Rome. It is about 30 minutes outside of Rome but can be longer depending on traffic. The guide was VERY informative and really had a passion about the information he was telling us. We never felt rushed—in fact we went over the estimate tour time because we took our time enjoying the sites. We stopped for an afagato in between the 2 sites and that was perfect. It is a lot of walking and steps so be mindful about shoes. Also bring water and I would suggest a sun umbrella for shade as well.

Giuliano was great. - Giuliano was a wealth of information and a very pleasant gentleman. He gave his thorough and traditional talks, but also had prompt answers to all of our questions. His passion for archeology, history and art was refreshing and we learned so much from him.

Outdoor splendor - Such an interesting day! Seeing the ruins of one estate and imagining the past is inspiring. Then seeing another intact estate with beautiful waterfalls and exquisite landscaping. Perfect day to understand the beauty, which is Rome.

Beautiful experience - It was nice to venture outside of Rome to see Villa d’Adriana and Villa d’Este. With a little imagination you can see how spectacular Villa d’Adriana must have been. The architecture of the various structures was amazing. It’s amazing to see the engineering minds that created the heating of the various terme or cooling of the emperor’s bedroom. The foundation of luxuries we are used to today. The gardens at Villa d’Este were amazing. I can only imagine it being more beautiful in the spring when flowers are in bloom. My guide was terrific and very knowledgeable.

Beware tourist trap - An absolute tourist trap! A short walk through a forest on forest and stone floor. You can only see a waterfall. 10€ admission per person. An outrage. Better go for a nice meal or a coffee in Rome for the money.
