- Clock Tower - The clock tower was built by the Ottoman Turks in an Islamic style and with simply a bell from Venice to be rung every hour. Ismail Tufina was the first watchmaker of the clock tower in 1822. In 1916 during World War I the clock was damaged. It took until 1928 to put a new mechanism. - Clock Tower - The clock tower was built by the Ottoman Turks in an Islamic style and with simply a bell from Venice to be rung every hour. Ismail Tufina was the first watchmaker of the clock tower in 1822. In 1916 during World War I the clock was damaged. It took until 1928 to put a new mechanism. The new mechanism was purchased in Germany at the price of 13,300 golden francs, which was funded from the wealthiest families in the city and by the Tirana Municipality. Watchmaker Arif Tufina and his sons installed the new mechanism. Due to the mechanism being bigger than the actual tower they constructed an extra 5 meters on the tower and a new roof.[6]

A great full day trip - We had a relaxing full day trip to both Kruje and Tirana. It was nice to have direct access to sites with helpful information from knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides.

Nice tour with an important historical place & capital city - Very nice tour with one of the historically most significant places in Albania, Kruja, which is also beautiful, and capital city. Special thanks to the excellent guide, Ilir, with whom the tour was even more interesting & efficient.

Kruja is a must - Kruja was the special recommendation of Local Friends Albania, the agency that attended us during the 3 days stay in Tirana. We were impressed by this old small village with a special place in the history and the hearts of the albanians. Skerdi took us to see the bazaar with the wonderful display of local artistry and was very professional during our visit to Skanderber Museum,so we could understand the struggles and sacrifices that were to consolidate a country. The Museum in itself is of top category,very well designed and cared for,with vast information. Highly recommended.

What an incredible tour we had ! The guide was very knowledgeable and we organised . We enjoyed every single minutes and could learn about Kruja, Albania in depth. He answered all our questions in detail . We highly recommended this tour and this guide to everyone who will come to Albania for sure .

Shop in 409 yr old Bazar then tour Tirana and relax with tea by the pool Hotel Rogner - Kruje was a big highlight for me Shopping delight

Good tour to familiarize yourself with Tirana and the area - We were met at our hotel by Iliri who turned out to not only have an encyclopedic knowledge of the area, but he was a really nice guy, and pleasant to be with. In Kruje, he took us to Skanderbeg castle and gave us the details of the Albanian history of the mid-1400's that was attached to the ruins, and the very nice museum there. Then on a walking tour of the Tirana city square and main boulevard along which there are interesting sights such as Skanderbeg's statue, the parliament building, and large churches of the three religious groups: Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic (Mother Theresa's church), and the new Mosque. Would highly recommend this tour.
