- Skanderbeg Square - Skanderbeg Square serves as the central hub in Tirana, Albania, named in honor of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeg. Covering approximately 40,000 square meters, the square is dominated by the Skanderbeg Monument. During the Italian occupation, architects Florestano Di Fausto and Armando Brasini designed Tirana’s city plan in a Neo-Renaissance style, featuring intricate angular designs and grand fascias. Notable buildings such as the Tirana International Hotel, the Palace of Culture, the National Opera, the National Library, the National Bank, the Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the City Hall, and several ministries are located here, along with the National Historical Museum.
- Pazari i Ri - Known as the New Bazaar, this neighborhood in Tirana, Albania, derives its name from the local grocery market. Situated east of the central boulevard, it forms part of Tirana’s Old Town alongside Mujos and is one of the city’s oldest districts. The historic Kokonozi Mosque from the Ottoman era is located here. The market offers a wide range of fresh produce, locally sourced fruits and vegetables, fish, meat, and regional Albanian wine and raki. Surrounded by colorful buildings, restaurants, and bakeries, the area has seen increased interest as a tourist destination. In 2017, the bazaar underwent renovation and reconstruction. Originally built in 1931, the New Bazaar stands on the site of the historic Old Bazaar, which once extended to the present-day Skanderbeg Square.
- Enver Hoxha Pyramid - Opened on October 14, 1988, the structure initially served as the Enver Hoxha Museum, dedicated to the legacy of Enver Hoxha, the long-time leader of Communist Albania, who passed away three years prior. The Pyramid was co-designed by Hoxha’s daughter, architect Pranvera Hoxha, her husband Klement Kolaneci, along with Pirro Vaso and Vladimir Bregu. At the time of its construction, it was considered the most expensive individual structure in Albania. Often humorously referred to as the “Enver Hoxha Mausoleum,” this was never its intended purpose or official name.
- Blloku - Once the residence of senior Communist Party members, the Communist Block was a restricted area for ordinary citizens. The Block area has a unique history, with some of the city’s most beautiful pre-war villas located here. Enver Hoxha transformed it into a residence for himself and his “comrades” in the communist leadership. The existing houses were expanded and concealed by greenery, creating an intimidating atmosphere. Today, the area is a vibrant mix of multi-story buildings, villas converted into international residences, luxury boutiques, cafes, and clubs. It has become one of the most popular nightlife spots, especially for the youth, due to its diverse services and luxury pubs. For those seeking nightlife, lights, and clubs, the Block is the place to be.
- Kruje - The Kruja Bazaar is renowned as one of Albania’s oldest marketplaces. Established over 400 years ago, it was the starting point for free trade among the city’s prominent merchants. Located on the main road to the Castle of Kruja, the bazaar is part of the museum while maintaining its traditional commercial role. Visitors can find traditionally-crafted rugs, expertly-made copper products, and other handcrafted items, including long-lasting silver jewelry. Over the centuries, the bazaar has grown, influencing the development of housing and urban structures around it, making it the true epicenter of Kruja.
- Kruja Castle - Kruje Castle is deeply intertwined with the history of the Albanian people and is one of the most visited sites in Albania. Within the fortress lies the National Museum “George Castroti Skanderbeg,” constructed in the early 1980s by architects Pranvera Masha and Pirro Vaso. The museum showcases a wealth of original bibliographies, documents, objects, and authentic reproductions representing the history of the Albanian people in the fifteenth century. This museum has become an iconic feature of the city’s skyline.
