Excellent Tour - I booked the 7-day private tour of Albania, N. Macedonia and Kosovo. Communication was excellent as I was putting my trip together. Andi was very prompt replying back to my questions and kept in touch prior to my departure for Tirana. On the day the tour started my driver, Engjell, was right on time picking me up from the hotel. We spent the next seven days touring the areas described in the itinerary and was not disappointed. Engjell explained the history of the places we visited and that was really important to me. I had many questions and he had many good answers. He was also a very careful driver which made me feel good. The hotels booked for me were wonderful. Most of them, not all, were small local establishments with three or four rooms. The rooms were perfect for a solo traveler and all included breakfast. My three favorite hotels were in Shkoder, Berat and Gjirokastër. The restaurants recommended by Engjell were great. I asked Go As Local if I could end my tour in Shkoder as I wanted to spend a few days there. No problem as they made changes to the tour to allow this. I took the local bus back to Tirana from Shkoder. I would highly recommend touring with Go As Local. The tour and communication were great and the staff very professional. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience, giving the highlights of Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo! - This was a wonderful 7-day tour of various towns and cities in Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo. Our guide (also driver), Daniel, was very knowledgeable and friendly, and did a great job of tailoring the trip to our interests. We found the timings to be perfect - just enough time in each place to get a flavour; it never felt rushed. The hotels that were provided by the tour operator were excellent - always well located and often with great views. This tour exceeded our expectations - highly recommended!

A delightful discovery in the Balkans - My husband and I took the 7-day Go as Local 7-day private tour of Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo in October, 2023. We had a marvelous and memorable trip and saw lots of impressive well-preserved ancient ruins, scenic cities and towns with cultural and historical significance, gorgeous uncrowded seaside areas, stunning rugged mountains, massive areas of deep green forest, beautiful churches and mosques and intriguing historical sites. Our tour guide Endri was fantastic! He was unfailingly courteous and considerate, provided pertinent information on all of the places we visited, was an excellent driver, and had a diverse background so there were always topics to discuss as we drove along. The car was comfortable and reliable, and the food was delicious, economical and plentiful especially the included breakfasts each morning. Be prepared for lots of uphill and downhill walking on cobblestones or gravel when visiting the many castles and ruins, most of which are situated above the towns they protected in ancient days. Fall is an excellent time of year to visit - not too hot in the daytime and cool at night. There were no safety concerns and we felt safe walking around on our own in the evenings. Andi, the owner of Go as Local, was friendly, cordial and easy to reach through WhatsApp and he responded promptly to our questions as we were planning our trip. He made sure our trip was well-organized and met our expectations. We strongly recommend this tour if you have an interest in this enjoyable and appealing off-the-beaten-path part of Europe – it’s uncrowded, affordable, attractive, welcoming to visitors and is genuinely authentic to its deep roots, long and varied history and diverse cultural influences.

A great partner for your trip to Albania and the Western Balkans - My trip was around 9 days, seeing all of the major points in central and southern Albania, in North Macedonia, and in Kosovo. There's really no substitute for having a local guide, knowledgeable and proud, to show you the region, navigate the sometime fraught driving, and in general make your life easier as you enjoy visiting these most beautiful places. My Albanian friend was Skerdi, and he showed me a great time. We had a lot of laughs, listened to great music, enjoyed conversation, and sampled many different kinds of cuisine. Albania's mountainous terrain makes for unending majestic views around every peak. It's Adriatic coastline is also quite beautiful. Every Albanian I met, to a person, was kind, hospitable, and friendly. And the food? Out of this world. A great place for adventure travel, cultural history, ancient history--whatever your pleasure. Or, just to spend a few days in a funky European capital city, Tirana, enjoying high quality food and accommodation for reasonable costs. North Macedonia was also beautiful, but there's less going on there for tourists. Visiting Ohrid is a must, as is Matka Canyon closer to Skopje. Outside of the newly built monuments, statues, and buildings in central Skopje, there's not much to see and do there, and the city closes up fairly early. The restaurants, bars and coffee shops aren't nearly as plentiful or, quite frankly, as good as they are in Albania or Kosovo. Still, you should visit if you're in the region. Kosovo is a beautiful country. There's a lot to see and do, especially around Prizren, which should be high on your list for a one or two-day visit. It's the most charming and interesting city-village, full of outdoor cafes, bazaars, and history. Prishtina is also worth a visit. Similarly, lots of good restaurants and bars, interesting architecture here and there, but traffic can be congested. Random (but marked) crossings means drivers are forever braking for pedestrians darting across the busy avenues without much care or notice. I would definitely consider a return trip to Kosovo if I return to Albania. And, I would try to book such a trip with Go as Local. Traveling is an investment you make in yourself. These folks, Andi and Skerdi and crew, make everything easy--which is just the way you want it when you go on vacation. The cost of your trip includes airport pick-up and drop-off, all transportation throughout Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, all guiding and advice (which is priceless!), and entrance fees to any museums or forts you visit. It's not inclusive of food or accommodation, which you'll book yourself once you've agreed upon an itinerary. Accommodation and food costs are extremely reasonable throughout the region; I would encourage you to "lean in" and "go as local."
