Embark on an intriguing journey to Timgad, originally known as Thamugadi, established in 100 AD by Emperor Trajan for Roman veterans. Travel back in time to explore one of the largest Roman ruins, often referred to as the Pompeii of Africa, which was once buried under sand. Located about an hour and a half from Constantine, approximately 130 km by car, you’ll arrive at the expansive ruins of Timgad. The site is renowned for its vast size of around 50 hectares, its symmetrical grid layout with two main streets, a large forum, baths, a library, and an impressive Capitol, all remarkably well-preserved.
