- YO AMO PETEN - The tour kicks off at 7:30 a.m. from a convenient meeting point on the picturesque Isla de Flores. From there, we will embark on an exciting journey into the jungle. Our team will be at the meeting point with a sign bearing your name for easy recognition. If someone else approaches you claiming to be from Tour to Tikal without your name, please disregard them and wait at the designated spot.
- El Remate - On the way to Tikal, we will pass through El Remate, a quaint town on the shores of Lake Petén Itzá, offering travelers a stunning view of the lake.
- Tikal National Park - Here, visitors can explore an impressive scale model of Tikal, providing insight into the layout and grandeur of its temples, plazas, and structures before venturing into the jungle. Amenities such as restrooms, a restaurant, a cafeteria, and local craft shops are available.
Next, we will pass through the entrance control and begin an immersive hike along jungle trails, surrounded by the sounds of nature and wildlife. Our local guide will not only lead the way but also engage you with dynamic explanations of the flora, fauna, and archaeological wonders that made Tikal a powerful civilization in the Mayan world.
Each step brings you closer to an unforgettable moment until the jungle suddenly opens up to reveal the majestic Central Square, the heart of Tikal, where ancient temples rise above history.
- Great Plaza - This breathtaking open space is encircled by some of Tikal’s most iconic structures: The imposing Temple of the Great Jaguar (Temple I), built as the tomb of ruler Jasaw Chan K’awiil I, a significant figure in the city’s history. Opposite stands Temple II (Temple of Masks), offering one of the best panoramic views of the entire plaza. The Mayan Ball Game, where rituals transcending sport were performed, is linked to the worldview and balance between the earthly and spiritual realms. Here, every structure narrates a story, from sacred rituals to the political power that dominated much of the Mayan world. This is undoubtedly one of the tour’s most captivating moments, where Tikal’s grandeur is unveiled in all its glory, surrounded by the jungle and enveloped in an atmosphere that bridges past and present.
- Tikal Temple III - Tikal Temple III, also known as the Temple of the High Priest, is one of the most remarkable structures in the ancient Mayan city.
Constructed around 810 AD, this temple stands approximately 55 meters tall and is distinguished by its elegant architecture and historical significance within the Tikal ceremonial complex.
During the tour, travelers will have the opportunity to admire this majestic pyramid amidst the Petén rainforest while uncovering the history and legacy of the Mayan civilization.
- Temple IV - Temple IV of Tikal is the tallest structure in the ancient Mayan city and one of the tour’s most impressive highlights.
Standing at approximately 70 meters, it offers one of the best panoramic views of the Petén jungle and the temples rising above the tropical forest.
This iconic temple is also recognized as one of the filming locations for Star Wars, making it a special place for both Mayan history enthusiasts and film fans.
