Thuan An village, located approximately 13km from Hue, is adjacent to Hue’s only notable beach. It’s easily accessible, and for those feeling active, it’s a delightful bike ride. The route follows the river, passing several intriguing pagodas, commune houses, and a local market in No village. From there, a bridge leads to the expansive sand spit and lagoon where the Perfume River meets the sea.

Signs will guide visitors to the bustling section of the beach. Unless dining at one of the numerous seafood restaurants is the goal, this area is best avoided. It is a favorite spot for Vietnamese locals, especially during public holidays when a large portion of Hue’s residents flock to Thuan An. The beach becomes crowded with people, and the sea is filled with groups of ‘swimmers’ supported by inflated vehicle inner tubes. The sand is unclean, and shade is scarce, except for what the restaurants provide.
