On July 19, 2009, former Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and several high-ranking government officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony, which coincided with the inauguration of the adjacent Thun Phc Bridge. This modern bridge crosses the Han River near the Le Dinh Duong/Bach Dang traffic circle, offering the shortest road connection from Da Nang International Airport to other major roads in the city, as well as a more direct route to My Khe Beach and Non Nuoc Beach on the city’s eastern outskirts.
