As someone who has spent countless hours riding the waves and exploring the ocean’s depths, I thought I had seen it all. But when I heard about the PRO-SNORKELING experience in Thành phố Phú Quốc, I knew I had to dive in. The promise of hidden coral reefs and a small, intimate group was too tempting to resist.

The day began with a gentle breeze and the sun casting a golden hue over the island. Our small group, no more than nine of us, was picked up from the middle east of the island. The anticipation was palpable as we made our way to the speedboat. The company, OnBird, prides itself on being environmentally conscious, and it was evident from the start. Cold bottled water was the only refreshment offered, ensuring no waste would mar the pristine waters we were about to explore.

Diving into the Deep Blue

Our first stop was a shallow area where we tested our equipment and received a briefing on snorkeling techniques. As someone who has spent a lifetime in the water, I appreciated the thoroughness of the instructions. The visibility was around 6-7 meters, and the conditions were nearly perfect. The vibrant corals and schools of fish were a sight to behold, and I found myself lost in the underwater world.

After about 45 minutes of snorkeling without any other tourist groups in sight, we moved to the second spot. The visibility improved to about 8-9 meters, and the marine life was even more diverse. Crabs scuttled along the ocean floor, and the corals seemed to dance in the gentle current. It was a reminder of the ocean’s beauty and the importance of preserving it.

A Tranquil Retreat

After our underwater adventure, we headed to a secluded island where we were greeted with fresh fruit and coconut drinks. The island was a peaceful retreat, free from the usual tourist hustle. Unlike other places I’ve visited, there was no pressure to buy anything. The staff only approached if you signaled for them, allowing us to relax and soak in the serene surroundings.

Our guide, James, was a wealth of knowledge and humor. He shared insights about the different fish and corals we encountered, enhancing the experience with his passion for marine life. His dedication to protecting the reefs was evident, and it was inspiring to see someone so committed to preserving the ocean’s wonders.
