Arrival at Paro International Airport - Transfer to Thimphu - Overnight Stay
Thimphu - (Distance: 50 km / Driving Time: 1.5 hr / Altitude: 2334m)
Upon the guest’s arrival at Paro International Airport, a representative will be present to assist. After a warm welcome, the transfer to Thimphu will commence. Immigration formalities will be completed at the airport, and once the inner-line permit is obtained, guests will check into their pre-booked hotel. After refreshing, guests can relax.
In the evening, enjoy a stroll through the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts bazaar, where you can explore Bhutan’s exquisite traditional arts. Purchase hand-woven textiles, thangka paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings, jewelry, and unique items crafted from local materials.

National Library and Archives of Bhutan - Established in 1967, the National Library of Bhutan in Thimphu aims to preserve and promote Bhutan’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten) - The Memorial Stupa, also known as Thimphu Chorten, is located on Doeboom Lam in the southern-central part of Thimphu, near the main roundabout and Indian military hospital.
Motithang Takin Preserve - Situated in the Motithang district of Thimphu, this wildlife reserve is dedicated to the takin, Bhutan’s national animal. Originally a mini-zoo, it became a preserve when the animals chose not to inhabit the surrounding forest even when released.
National Folk Heritage Museum - Also known as Phelchey Toenkhyim, this museum in Thimphu showcases Bhutan’s folk heritage.
Simply Bhutan Museum - This museum resembles a Bhutanese village and features traditional cuisine, demonstrations, and performances.
Tashichho Dzong (Thimphu Dzong) - A Buddhist monastery and fortress located on the northern edge of Thimphu, on the western bank of the Wang Chu.
Buddha Dordenma - A colossal Shakyamuni Buddha statue in the mountains of Bhutan, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the fourth king, Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
Transfer from Thimphu to Punakha - Sightseeing and Overnight Stay
Dochula Pass - This mountain pass in the snow-covered Himalayas lies on the road from Thimphu to Punakha. It features 108 memorial chortens, known as “Druk Wangyal Chortens,” built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother. The pass also hosts the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple) and the annual Dochula Druk Wangyel Festival. Adjacent to the pass is the country’s first Royal Botanical Park.
Punakha Dzong - Constructed in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal at the confluence of the Phochu and Mochu rivers, this majestic dzong once served as Bhutan’s religious and administrative center. It features a six-story, gold-domed tower, courtyards, and religious statuary.
Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Known as the temple of fertility, it is believed that couples praying here are often blessed with a child. A walk through the nearby village offers insights into the daily life of the locals.
Punakha Suspension Bridge - A notable suspension bridge in Punakha.

National Museum - Housed in Ta-Dzong, an ancient watchtower, the National Museum is located about 5.5 kilometers from Paro’s main town and 500 feet from the Rinpung Dzong. Photography is not allowed inside, but the ta dzong and surrounding grounds can be photographed.
Rinpung Dzong - Construction began in 1644 under Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of modern Bhutan. Despite surviving the 1897 earthquake, it was damaged by fire in 1906. The dzong hosts the annual Paro Tsechu festival, attracting tourists worldwide.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike
Paro Taktsang - Known as “The Tiger’s Nest,” this iconic landmark is one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites. Legend says Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew here on a tigress’s back. The temple, built in 1692, requires a 2-3 hour trek through pine forests adorned with moss and prayer flags.
Kyichu Lhakhang - One of Bhutan’s oldest temples, originally built in the 7th century by Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo. It is one of the 108 border taming temples he constructed.
