- Thermopylae Museum - The visit to the “Thermopylae Museum,” located next to the monument of King Leonidas in historic Thermopylae, is dedicated to the pivotal 480 BC battle where 300 Spartans stood against the Persian Empire, altering Greek history. The Center offers an interactive historical narrative: In its three exhibition halls, multimedia applications provide visitors with a virtual journey to the era and battlefields of the Persian Wars as chronicled by the ancient historian Herodotus, while the battle of Thermopylae is vividly depicted in a digital 3D movie.
- Meteora - The driver will collect guests at 08:00 am from their hotel or from Piraeus port. After meeting, the journey begins along the road to Thermopylae.
Following this, the tour proceeds to Meteora, with the first stop at the Great Meteoro (or similar), the largest and oldest of all. Known as the monastery “suspended in the air” (meteoro), it is perched atop a massive rock formation.
The second visit is to the great monastery of St. Stephan (or similar), a small church constructed in the 16th century and adorned in 1545. Unlike others, this monastery is situated on the plain rather than a cliff. It suffered damage during World War II by the Nazis, who suspected it of sheltering insurgents, and was subsequently abandoned. Later, nuns restored it.
Additionally, visitors can admire a collection of Byzantine and Christian artifacts at the museum within the monastery. This delightful tour concludes in the charming villages of Kalambaka, a quaint traditional town nestled at the base of the majestic grey rocks of God, in the shadow of the grand Meteora Monasteries, where a traditional Greek lunch will be enjoyed.
