Proactively making sure we got home - Note: Hi Lipe arranged transport from Hatyai airport to Koh Lipe via Pak Bara. I am not reviewing this trip, but it would also be rated as excellent if I did. Most of you have heard about the flooding in South Thailand in November 2025. As this was evolving, we were in Koh Lipe, having a great holiday. When we started getting emergency notifications from the Thai regional government on our phones, it became clear that it would be difficult to get to Hatyai. We had to make it to Bangkok to catch a flight home, so we were beginning to get a bit nervous. Hi Lipe contacted us through WhatsApp, informing us of the situation, updating us on the situation as it evolved. They also made it clear that it was impossible for them to get us to Hatyai via the normal route ... or any route. The photos and videos they forwarded showed the extent of the catastrophe in the area. Hi Lipe explored different options - boat trip Koh Lipe to Phuket and onwards flight to Bangkok as an example, but did not recommend it, since the rough seas meant that the trip would most likely be cancelled. In the end we concluded that the best option was Koh Lipe to Langkawi in Malaysia by boat, then onwards to Kuala Lumpur and then finally to Bangkok. Hi Lipe booked the boat trip to Langkawi at no extra cost, using our trip to Hatyai to pay for it. In this type of situation, many travel agencies would claim force majeure, few exceptions would go the extra mile as Hi Lipe did. When booking the trip to Koh Lipe, I checked which agencies had good reviews. Hi Lipe came well recommended, and now I know why. If you are booking a trip to Koh Lipe, I can only recommend Hi Lipe, they provide excellent service throughout the trip. And we made it to Bangkok in time to catch our flight home :)
