Great experience! - We booked four days of private lessons with Maya and couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. She handled different levels with ease — from beginner to intermediate — and was wonderful with our 7-year-old daughter who was just starting. Thanks to her great advice and sharp eye, we all got up and caught waves. Big thanks to Maya!

Great experience for first timers - Get experience if you have never tried surfing before It was safe and fun. If you can’t swim you will only need to go to waist deep water The instructor were excellent

Perfect for a Cool Kid! - My 10.5 year old son loved his 2 hour surfing lesson. He was grouped with other children and had a kind and enthusiastic instructor. She gave lots of high-5s and he was so proud of his progress! He said it was his favourite activity of the trip. We loved the gorgeous location!

An amazing beginner surfing lesson - I recently took a beginner surf lesson in Aotearoa, and it was an amazing experience! My instructor, Corne, was incredibly patient and supportive, making the session both fun and easy to follow. Thanks to his guidance, I felt confident and had a great time catching waves. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to try surfing—it was an absolute joy!

We loved it! - Excellent introductory course. Thanks to Leonard for his patience and encouragement!! He made us discover and loved surfing! Very good preparation at the beginning of the course with all the concepts of safety and how to approach the waves. It respects our capabilities and helps us overcome our fears. We feel confident and we improve quickly!

first timer - i did this lesson with a couple of girlfriends and it was my first time ever trying to surf, so i was pretty unconfident beforehand. i found the lesson so helpful and really boosted my confidence, and by the end of it i managed to get up on the board. it was amazing! i cant remember the names of our instructors, sorry, but they were truly fantastic. if you're a first timer or even just want to brush up on your skills, like one of my friends did, i highly recommend Aotearoa Surf School! what an awesome service you guys provide. keep up the great work.

Summer vibes - Myself and some girlfriends came and did a 2hrs surf lesson over the peak season. Che and the coaches were super friendly and helpful, my gals who have never tried surfing before were up riding waves! Was the time of our lives and most definitely a day to remember. Best money ever spent! - Had the absolute best experience with the Aoteroa Surf School team. It was really well organised, Ophe was an awesome instructor and made sure everyone was looked after during the lessons. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to try surfing, was well worth the drive from Auckland. Che helped me with the purchase of a board from them. He was so knowledgeable and honest in his advice guiding me to the right board for me. 10/10 recommend.

Thanks Ollie, Hannah and Nathan - I'd like to single out Ollie who was a great coach, demonstrating moves that we can only hope to emulate, but he can isolate your areas to work on, and does everything with a huge smile on his face. Hannah and Nathan were also amazing. I had two group lessons. The first with 19 people, which left me a bit frustrated though I had learned some basics. The second, there were just two of us, at Mangawhai, and we had such a great time in messy surf; I left feeling totally elated. I'd highly recommend Ollie as a coach and the whole operation which is very professional.
